stained glass

Hello! I am new to wet canvas and so far I really like it. Does anyone here do regular stained glass or does everyone do just beads?

Hi Linda, Welcome to WC!!!

Hey Linda, this is a pic of a piece I did years ago. I think you will find other people who have done stained glass here, but have mainly converted to making beads and marbles. Please feel free to post pics and descriptions here because we love eye candy of all sorts, even cats wearing beads!b Sorry for the lousy scan!

Welcome to WC, the family where glass addicts reside!

Hi Linda! Welcome!

There are some stained glass folk - many do "hot" and "cold" glass work (not to mention "warm" - fusing, slumping).

I took 1 sorry stab at stained glass...it's cool, I just was getting addicted to torching at the same time...

Do a search in the Glass Art Forum on stained glass and you'll find some awesome pieces folks have posted.

Very cool piece, Lenda! Did the center piece of glass come that way or did you create that???

B2

...and all this time I thought you WERE Queen... *sigh*

I'd post a pic of my sorry attempt, but small children would run from the room screaming...

Hi Linda. Welcome!
I fear I too am one who did stained glass but made the change to hot glass. I loved making windows, but found the time and money just too much. Hot glass is much more instant gratification. And the fact that it sells is a nice bonus as well. Here's one of the last pieces I did:
It measures 3 ft by 4 1/2 ft, has something like 700 pieces of glass and took me a month to make. Hot glass at 1/2hr to 1hr each is much more rewarding. I have the greatest admiration for anyone sticking with stained glass

Actually we moved into a condo that wouldn't allow me to hang these in the windows. So I only hung 3 in windows. The other 8 cover the walls in my studio. It saves on painting.

Thank you all for the welcome, you make me feel at home. Lenda, I love the shell! I made a 16" lampshade out of shells one time and liked working with them.
Greg, the window is beautiful!!! Is this your own design?
I don't make stained glass, mosaics or my paper mache to sell really. If I happen to sell something its a bonus. I give most of my stuff away. As soon as I master the digital camera I will send some of my stuff.

Greg, that is a wonderful piece of art, I know how tedious stained glass can be.
Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome Linda!

Sure there are stained glass people here as well. All glassaholics are welcome!
I even still do a few commissioned stained glass pieces a year, even though the hot glass bug has gotten a firm hold on me and I do it full time now!

Would love to see some of your work.

Katie

Hey these pics s/b in the Showcase!!!

Great stained glass pics. I'd love to see more plus any mosaics people have done. I'm wanting to incorporate some of my beads into stained glass works but haven't completed anything yet.

So come on stained glass workers, show yourself--we know you're out there.

Moderator: maybe we need a separate showcase for non bead glass???

Welcome to WetCanvas!

It's mostly beadmakers here, but there are others. I have mainly done large scale furnace work, with a tiny bit of dabbling in beads. I a studio set up for beads that I just can't get motivated to fire up.
