Post Project Discussion: SAE 6/15/02 movement & motion

A new project has been announced in the WetCanvas! project system!

Title: SAE 6/15/02 movement & motion
Project Leader: pencils4me
Relative Difficulty: Irrelevant
Type Restrictions: Any Type
Medium: Any Medium
Subject: Not Applicable
Days open for signups: 7
Maximum participants allowed: Unlimited

Description:

Hello everyone! Welcome to my Saturday Art Event!

C'mon in! Check your hats & spurs at the door, grab yourself a frosty cold beverage, dust off yer chaps and have yerself a seat!

In the past drawing events we have done statues, buildings, bugs, still life, etc., and lots of animals standing, sitting, laying around looking very pretty. So today were going to work on something that I hope is a little different...

Creating the Illusion of Movement & Motion!

Now just sit back down! No need to run off, we can do this! There are diffrent ways to create the illusion of movement, how would you do it? One way is by using a strong contrast at the "leading" edge... and softer lines and colors at the following edge. I have several refrence pics with different degrees of motion - these pics are not about the details in the pictures - but about the light/shadow/movement and energy you can convey from them! (please note most of these are.. ahem.. Mules!) As a color pencil artist I find a lack of movement typical of cp works - so this is what I need to work on too. So grab your hat, grab your mule, pack up your desired art supplies, saddle up and lets get movin!

Don't forget to mosey on in to the ol Saloon (aka Cafe) in two hours after uploading your work! Everybodys welcome!

Additional Information:

For more information on the project: Click here!

Remember, in order to help keep the discussions on projects organized, you should post your questions, suggestions, and comments on submitted work here in this thread. By doing this, we allow other non-project efforts to not get "pushed down" by a swarm of project-related threads.

Gorgeous, Bobby. You say so much with a dab here and a dab there. I love this!

This was SUCH a push of the envelope for me. I've never tackled a subject even remotely like this one before. Took the whole 2 hours. But I'm thrilled I was able to get through it in the allotted time. I think I like the 2-hour ones best--really gets the adrenaline going and I don't have time to mull over decisions. It's "pick one, already, and start drawing!" Wonderful AE, TJ! Thanks for hosting.
