Lightbulb Informative Sculpture Website Link

Hi All:

I just came across this website recently and thought I would pass it on to you. Kelly Borsheimarts is the author, and she has some really informative lessons on sculpting a portrait in clay, kiln firing, applying a patina to look like bronze and creating a mold. Also she has some really good links......soooooo when you have time you might like to take a look see.

Lightbulb Another Borsheimarts link

Hi All:

Let's make this thread our "Sculpture Forum Links File" we can all contribute when we find links of interest.

This is a goodie! Found this one while I was doing a search looking at sculpture stands. Thought I'd find the one I like and have hubby make me one. Yeah I'm spoiled!

Hi Kath

That site is a good one. I had it in my fav's for a while but haven't found that disk yet. The following is a good Q&A page by Andrew Werby.

Hi Maggie:

You Welcome When I first started visiting the Sculpture Forum I was warmly welcomed by the gang. I remember how it made me feel so accepted into this forum. We all share the common bond and that is a love of sculpture. From the most experienced to the beginner everyone is treated equal and made to feel important.

Please feel free to add a link when you find a site of interest.
Best,
Kathy

Hi Kathy! I'm in FT art school & have 3 kids to boot so my time only comes in spurts. <g> Unfortunately, the only sculpture I have currently in progress is a terra cotta piece that I did last semester and I got too busy to finish it. Then it dried before I was able to complete it. LoL Ah well. I shall rebuild it. Bigger and better! hee hee It really is a beautiful piece, IMHO. <g> Tis a pregnant woman wading into the water. I call it first baptism. Lemme see if I can find a progress pic at least.

Now I've been swamped with portrait commissions for 2D work, not 3D. LoL Thanks for remembering me!!

Hi All:

Found this website on the net today!
www.colourshaper.com

I did a little research and found that www.jerryscatalog.com has the best price and all the sizes. I have been using my Kemper wipe out tool for smoothing, and wishing it was a lot smaller.
I ordered 2 sets a 0 and 2 thinking the 0 will be perfect for working on my rider's 1" inch face.

There's the scoop:

The Clay Shaper has an extra firm tip offering excellent control
with:

Clay
Plasticene
Wax
Plaster
Heavy body paints
Adhesives (epoxy resin)

Hints and tips
Use Clay Shapers to make smooth accurate marks - you will get smooth marks with out the fingerprints!
Sculpt the shape you require and add fine details with size 0's and 2's.
The Wide Clay Shapers are ideal when working on large areas. Simply wet the tip and slide over the wet clay for
a smooth, even finish.
You can also use Wide Clay Shapers for spreading adhesive. Either wipe the adhesive from the tip or let it dry and peel it off!
When you are making a vase, for example, trying to smooth the inside of your work is extremely difficult. Try using a size 10 or size 16 Colour Shaper (grey tip) for this instead - because it has a long handle, you can reach all those difficult places.

Hope you find this helpful
Best,
Kathy

I saw this one today and thought I would add it. Always on the lookout for new materials and sources.

www.avesstudio.com/aves/sculptin/

check it out! They are manufacturers of fine clays (Apoxie, Fix it, Critter clay, Maches....) worth a look.

Hi All:
Maggie good links enjoyed the first one a lot!

Here is another link for us because Frank has peaked my interest in P'Clay. I think I might like to try it how about you?

See why and how the paper clays, P'Slip and P'Clay (R) can be superior to even the most deluxe of conventional ceramic clay for most modeling and forming projects. Suitable for firing in kilns to a lighter weight ceramic glazed permanence just like normal clays and much more..

http://www.paperclayart.com
http://home.earthlink.net/~rmau/article.html
Frank if you see this and have any P'Clay sites you like please add their link here.

Best,
Kathy
