Talking okay i give in

Since everyone was so eager to see one of my sculptures here you are. I warn you, its not much to look at. One of the "wings" bot broken in shipping. The top is out of proportion with the bottom and the head looks funny but its mine and i love it

Front and back veiws scanned on the scanner even if the scanner was acting weird today.

Polamyr (sp?) clay, 6" tall or so...

Bendaini,

I like the sweep of this piece - it has a lot of action. Also, how in the world did you get those colors in there; or is that due to lighting? Too bad one of the wings broke off. It's pretty good for a six-inch sculpture - I find even with my limited experience (or maybe because of it) it's very hard to work in small scale. I'd love to see a larger piece if you have one. Thanks for posting - always love to see what others are doing (so I can steal some cool ideas....)!

Hi Bendaini

Nice to see you here. Saw you in the last FND drawing event. That was fun.

Now for the sculpture - I like it Agree with all on the flowing lines, very nice sweep and form.

Do you have more?

You said you were going to try some clay. Di and Max will be along soon and I bet they will answer your clay questions. They are the experts around here on clay. But watch out for Kathleen she is hot on there tails with clay.

Anyway look forward to seeing you around the sculpture forum.

Good luck with your new works

Yielding

See..that wasn't so hard now, was it? Very imaginative and lovely line. Like Yeilding, love those colors even if it was from the photo process. Can you glue or epoxy this stuff when it breaks? Don't have any experience with it and was curious.
Now comes the hard part..we do not allow our Wet Canvas Sculptors of the World Society members (and you are a member in good standing) post just ONE work and go hide on us! Just a warning from the committe
Max

This was done in a "generic" sculpy compound that came in a somewhat big block (couple pounds i think, the stuffs heavy too) and i used almost all of it on this.

I did not know ANYTHING about actual armatures except that they were used sometimes (my doctor actualy did bronzes of deer in ND and there was an artical discribing the basics on how he did it, thats how i knew there was such a thing as an armature but not how to build one.)

My actual first "sculpting" was with play dough isn't most of ours... I did one design in it that i liked so much when i was 15 or so that i did it over in wet clay. Thats the one that broke. Back then i learned to suport my clay figures with tooth picks... So this one has about 6 toothpics stuck into it so that it would survive the oven... it fell over but other then that it survived pretty well.

Well max... i shall have to go buy some clay and do another sculpture just for you (RUN!!!) hehehe

Oh ya... the color is just the scan. The sculpy was generic white and i painted it over with craft white acrylic.

The form was a complete accident... i just did what the clay led me to do

Hi Bendaini

This is terrific! Love the graceful lines on this one. Very imaginitive piece. You can repair the break with epoxy. Two pounds of sculpy!!! That would cost a few cents You can get 50 LBS of wet clay for about 15.00. As for armatures, there is a good article By Frank on this subject. This link should take you to the page and you'll see it listed under articles.

Hope I did that link right. As Max said, you can't post just one then run away and hide!!! So let's see more soon...that includes in-progress pieces too

Thanks Di.
I think i will look at that...
The only troble with wet clay is that i live in an apartment. Kilns probably wouldnt be very good ideas in this place. I don't know if they have small ones, and i do like to work big cause its easier, but i think i am going to wait to get into that till i can either find a kiln for hire or get a house of my own. (which i hope is soon, i hate apartments)

Bendaini, I love this! I agree with everyone but especially love the imaginative aspect of it. It's surreal and mystical, very entertaining. Thanks for sharing it!! I want to know more about the toothpicks? I have recently done my first 'sculp' of hands praying and am wondering what is going to happen to the fingers in the kiln. I have heard about 'memory' in clay but know nothing.
