Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter Back in the saddle again

Hi there - well, I took a semester off and I'm ashamed to admit I did not pick up a charcoal stick the entire time I was off

Thankfully, I'm now back in school. This is a warm up we did in class with a model. 25 minutes, charcoal on 18" x 24" drawing paper.

I should probably add that since we only had 25 minutes, I did not go back in to make the repairs that are so obviously needed

Re: Back in the saddle again

Hi Michele good to see you posting again you will get the hang of it soon that would have been a hard pose for the model with her arms lifted.

Well, the model is a yoga enthusiast, and she was able to hold that pose for the entire 25 minutes without having to re-adjust. I certainly won't expect to have such high-caliber models the entire semester!

Re: Back in the saddle again

Yoga or not I bet she was glad when that pose finished!
Good to hear you have stopped slacking and started drawing
If this was a warm up pose, now doubt we can expect to see some work from longer poses at some stage
This one looks pretty well handled, My only comment would be that you could have afforded to make it bigger seeing there was plenty of paper!

Hi! this is really good drying...25 min. ... even better.
The only little thing that bothers me are the very dark lines under her breasts. I would soften that area. Maybe just me !

You know, I have a habit of doing that - I'm not quite sure why. It is really difficult for me to draw larger, and that's something I hope to conquer this semester!

There are a number of corrections/changes I'd like to make to this drawing. I've decided to battle my perfectionist tendencies and leave the drawing as-is. This is an exercise for me - trying to let myself go and resist the urge to try and make everything perfect

Anyway, thanks for the great observations. I'll be posting lots more I'm sure!
