Miniature Thatched Cottage

This is the first time I have posted an Image on WC. Very nervous

It's a Miniature Thatched Cottage I painted ages ago. If I were to do it again, no doubt I would make changes.

The measurements are 2.25" x 1.5", so it is very small, and has quite a bit of detail. It is a blank cut-out, on which I designed the Thatched Cottage and Country Garden.

I'm waiting until after Christmas when I hope to have more time to paint for WC.

Sorry, the scan has turned out poorly. Getting a new scanner for Christmas, THANK GOODNESS!!

The colours are crisper than shown, and the walls are whiter.

Val: This is very nicely done for its size!!!

Since I paint 2"x3" miniatures occasionally myself, I fullly appreciate the work that's gone into it!!
It would be great to see some more of your miniature work!!!

Thanks Bertoni. I am planning to do some more after Christmas when everythig settles down again. It is such a mad rush at this time of year.

I paint over 1,000 thimbles a year, so I am certainly a miniature painter at the moment, more so than larger paintings. I do paint larger pieces in other mediums though, and have worked on larger acrylic paintings in the past. I think I am caught in the miniature mode at the moment.

Thank you for the posting of the Thatched Cottage. I like it! As I have said elsewhere I am a fan of miniatures, and I really appreciate what you have done. I have just started work on some butterflies that I found photos of on the web. I hope I can do justice to them. They are beautiful, and they are from ... A u s t r a l i a !!! You "Aussies" are hiding a lot of lovely sights from the rest of us earthdwellers!

Hi Val...and I'll just say, welcome...and don't be nervous!

We many here at WC are a mix of professional artists, intermediates, teachers and students...and beginners. Its a community...and you'll soon find yourself quite addicted to the site! All have much to learn, and fortunately no end of learning in site!
