Winter Scene - Derwent or other CPs?
I did this winter scene earlier this year with Derwent Signature Line CPs. In the coming months I plan to do some more of these high contrast paintings. However, it is difficult to get good whites with Derwent Signature RUTILE WHITE. I wonder if there is any other CP White that is really white, matte and can well cover darker layers underneath? And lightfast, too, of course.
The picture is unfortunately cut off a little on the left (scanner size problem).

Excellent painting Luc!
Amazing how far away an outhouse can look in the snow
I've only used Prisma white, so I cannot compare.....

I don't know if there is such a thing? Just thought it was the nature of cp. You might just want to remove some of the dark before adding the white.
I use art spectrum sanded paper and you can kind of do what you are talking about on it. I can put a couple of layers down of a darker color, and then put white on top of it, because the grain really helps out. It does however mix in a bit because the white (prisma) pencil is so soft. I don't know, you might want to try it. I know wallis paper will give out a little sample of their sanded paper.
Again, this is a great drawing!

On second thought, if you want to keep it real white looking, you might want to put a layer or two of white, and then put the colors on top of that. Then you can blend more with white on the last layer. I did that on this man portrait I did. I was working on soft white stonehenge and I did his white clothes first so they wouldn't get dirty and layered the folds and shadows on top. It looks alot whiter in person than in this photo. Here's a link to the drawing I'm talking about. Done in prismas.

good suggestions...
also you might want to try and find a white stabilo aquarellable for paper, glass, plastic and metal...its called an all. it is definitely more opaque.
