911 Art Here
I know some of you out there vented or focused your feelings about what happened into your art. J* figured it would be good to see them all in one place. I don't mind starting it, put your feelings on the page here.
For this I was up all night last night and on an hour and a half of sleep (I think) I've finished this painting from a free association drawing I did watching TV yesterday (that's all I did; draw and watch). It's rough, I just wanted to get it all out, don't ask me wht it means exactly.

Hi Zotma,
re: your post "up all night last night ... free association drawing I did watching TV yesterday (that's all I did; draw and watch)".
This is quite an interesting (!) response to 'watching'!
I do like it - 'fluid', quite 'kinetic', 'surreal' > they're floating, falling??! ... certainly 'feminine' (!! -subjects & mood) .. I think it's great!
At this time though, I am still trying to make the **connections .. > the visual to the information which was input. Very interesting response.
(re: your post "don't ask me what it **means exactly")
You did quite a bit in one night!!!

boiscanot,
Hee hee, I don't really 'watch' TV ever. It's on a lot.
as for the visuals; I'm getting it as I go along, the nudes convey vulnerability, they don't have control (heads covered). All but the two at the bottom are linked (how humans are) and those that aren't, aren't doing so well, isolated. There are structures suggested. What came out was an image that the viewer had to finish on their own, my own emotions are infused but not blatent.
I've got the piece in critiques for comments (sorry 'bout the double post), I'm hoping others will post their art from the events here!

NY Sky Line September 11th
here is mine not finished yet - I sit and draw - and think - went to bed last night got up because this was in my dreams - If you are not familiar with New York it is the Brooklyn Bridge and the tall building is the Empire State Building. The twin towers would have been in-between. Slightly to the left of the bridge.

Can't think of anything but what has happened over the past two days. Here is my middle of the night catharsis. I wish there was something i could do.

more!
re: Zotma > "don't have control"
> now it comes together! The structures I did recognize. They are very much like the real ones - the compostion is great.
 Hi miss mouse
..although you mentioned it not being finished as yet?
It's odd, but when I look at it, it's almost as if the smoke,
& what it resresents (!!) is more 'over powering' anyway, than the 'fragile man' made buildings.
 Hi J*
Interesting concept - the face on that building is a very strong (!!) message! And he was 'there' with them .. the terrorists, in spirit , wasn't he?
And Susan your own just came in
> so haunting the two .. with dust on their faces, in the middle of what?!! Chaos .. The heaviness of your day surrounds them
(Zotma? have you noticed that others have really started posting?! ;0)
Bye 4 now - off to bed

i can´t say how much i admire the strength of all this work. zotma, i keep thinking of your lighthouse. it rises up into a place that is hard to reach right now. i haven´t painted but i keep a book everyday and i forced myself to this. looking at it now i see a snake being attacked. for me, snakes are a sign of life. so into my book of life i had to paint death and it is really unbearable.

What other or better way for the fine artists at this site to express thier grief. Thanks for sharing these. I'll be working on mine tomorrow, thanks to this thread. It may very well be a powerful step towards healing.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Please think about an international internet, online art exhibition where we all send in images protesting about the carnage and stupidity of all that has to do with terrorism...what do you think?
If you would like to send an international visual protest by doing the above
please send me your email messages to fez@iinet.net.au and I will take it from there. I can advertise it in Australia as well as on the net (my husband can start a web page) and if we get as many artists as we can doing this and advertising it to all the art sites and friends they can think of - what a wonderful, visually powerful thing it will be...
let me know and I will reply in due course.

intense to see the art to say the least, thank you all for sharing.
I agree with what Cheryl said and I'm looking forward to seeing more expressions of this, I think it does help.

I think this is a good idea...
and I am especially moved by Zotma's & Jeanette's paintings but I have too much anger to paint. All I can think about now its what needs to be done.

Cindy - paint it helps to release - we teach the children to paint what they feel. So this is how I feel ....
Everyone - I started something on the proj page it might be easier to view all the works there.

project page is a good idea (though 'project' feels like a light term), I'd like to see them all in one gallery. Thanks! And thanks everyone for posting and expressing your feelings.
