Mr. Caddy

I posted this in the A&W forum also, I hope its ok I am posting it here too. This was a birthday gift for one of my friends. It is of her horse Caddy, he is up in his years and has bad arthritis so she cannot ride him anymore. C&C welcome. Please let me know what you think.

Re: Mr. Caddy

I think he's adorable! I would comment, except I'm a city girl and don't know a thing about horses!!! I do like how you captured his different fur/hair (what do you call it?) textures.

I would bet your friend just loves you!

Re: Mr. Caddy

What a great friend you are! You've really captured the texture of the winter coat and what a beautiful face! One thing I'm wondering about and I'm not really sure how I feel about it - do you think there should be a little texture in the coat on the neck? I realize you don't want that to compete with the face, but it just looks really smooth, almost like it belongs to a different horse.

Re: Mr. Caddy

This is excellent! Wonderfully done! I have to agree with Lynda - maybe some texture and lighter colour on the neck would tie it in with the head.

Re: Mr. Caddy

Very Nice!!
Nicely rendered, I really like the Blue Halter (is that what its called?)but I do agree about the neck, I would like to see it with alittle less of a parallel shadow, I think if you added some variation in light and texture there it would help quite a bit

Re: Mr. Caddy

Emily I can't believe I almost missed this one! My favorite part is the way you handled the forehead and mane. As for the neck I think it really needs some straggly hairs on the bottom so he doesn't look shaved. Compared to the messy hairs on his face it just doesn't fit but a few kinda lit up underneath I think would do it. Your friend is going to love this! wanda

Re: Mr. Caddy

Wow, thanks you guys!

RobinZ-- yeah his hair or his coat

larsnip-- yes, it a halter I love bright colors

wet-- thank you so much for the comment on the mane and forelock! I think that is my absolute least favorite part to do because it requires me to work slow and to really concentrate(well atleast more than normal) but I always seem to be happy with them when Im done so its ok

Yeah, I know, I really ruined the neck, lol, I rushed to finish it and since I was rushing myself I like got rid of all the tooth on the paper so no matter what I did it wouldnt take anymore colored pencil but it did look ALOT worse and I was able to make it look somewhat decent so it just has to live like that forever, lol.

Thank you guys so much for commenting. It encourages me so much and makes me want to do more.
