Memory is her name...

...she's one of my granddaughters and its funny because now since I've lost much of my memory I tell everyone my daughter has my Memory.

Work in progress
18 X 24 oils

I know I have some work around the mouth and much more of the background etc but thought I'd post some progress pics if its ok with people.

Been absent awhile. Miss ya'll.

Dianne

I have a long way to go...just started last night, but I'm open to critique. Here's the reference photo.

Hi Diane,

Of course we love seeing WIP's. I think you have a lovely painting started.

I like this a lot..there is a great gesture and expression in the painting....please, don't blend all of the expressive strokes away.

But the idea would come to go back into it, assuming that the more times I’d go back into it, the better it’d get. Well, it’s just the reverse!! It doesn’t work that way. It’s a gift. Thank you Tina, N, Cathleen and Mario.

Mario...I know what you mean about not blending the strokes away. One of the things I wanted to relate in this portrait is Memory's beautiful smooth child skin. She is just so pretty. So I don't want to make it splotchy with strokes, but still want to put expression in it. Here is what I have so far and I do believe I'm close to what I want. I will be working somewhat more on the background. Any help appreciated.

This is fantastic..the likeness is great. Just watch out for the left hand side of the painting it has much more shadow in the picture.
Can't wait to see this progress...and you have captured the silky skin effect.
