Re: Glass Jars

John I like the composition...the theme of the similar sized bottles - many the same width...but broken up by the variation in tops and contents, draws the viewer around, and to the sweet spot...very nicely...well painted too.

Re: Glass Jars

*Deirdre*, Thanks! Sorry if I wasn't clear in my first post, this is a copy, so I can't claim credit for the comp. I'm new to digital painting, so I'm just trying to sharpen my observational skills, and get familiar with the software.
I did get close to the ref, and I'm happy you think it's well painted!

Re: Glass Jars

Hey there John. Those glass jars and lids are stunning mate.

If I could say, I'm not getting a good read on the foreground of both sides, although the centre reads well. I think there are subtle reflections of the jars from the polished surface, but they appear very loose compared the much tighter jars above. The surface/tiles/table doesn't seem to maintain a consistent level as it approaches the viewer.

Fantastic work mate, keep them coming.

Re: Glass Jars

Hey Darius, thanks for the good words man. You're talking about the table top not reading right, yes? To be honest, I'm not sure what the table is supposed to be made of, though it's definitely not polished, it's painted very loosely in the ref, although I probably wimped out a little at the end, I was drained from all those jars man!
Thanks again mate.
Here's the ref I worked from, a painting by Zoey Frank, love her stuff.

Re: Glass Jars

John, You did a great job here! I like #3 and #4 bottles as they seem to be the center of interest.
