Happy Humpday! 16th May
Morning all,
It wasn't so hot out today, so I made beads in the afternoon. I tried to sleep longer, but couldn't.
Dilly, I make my version of Starbucks frappicino's with my blenders. I have an ice crushing blade, but I go thru blenders like crazy! They're really not the quality that they were years ago.
Sorry for mispelling Tuesday yesterday....pretty lame, huh.
Hope everyone has a great day! Whatever you do or don't do!
Happy creating,
ginger

Re: Happy Humpday! 16th May
Good morning. Ginger - never even noticed misspelled Tuesday. I couldn't live without spell check.
Coffee with the ladies this morning, bead making this afternoon.
Had a Skype call from my son yesterday. He had been sick with food poisoning. He thinks it was the fried bamboo larva. That's a worm.
Yuck and double yuck. That's the second time he's gotten very ill since moving to Thailand.
Enjoy. Ciao

Re: Happy Humpday! 16th May
Good Morning!
Ginger.....Could you please keep the heat at your end of the world! I am a 70 girl. Not the year the temp! It can be anywhere in the 70's and I am happy! When it sneaks up into the 80's peeking at the 90's I start melting and become a hermit inside the air conditioning! I would probably keep the same schedule you do if I lived in your part of the world!!!
Ellen.....Yuckity, Yuck and I thought eat at McDonalds is stomach ache adventure. Sorry your boy was sick, but so glad you got to skype! We have been trying to Skype with Todd before he leaves and the connection between here and the Desert is crappy!
I am pooped already and I am staring at lots of work that needs to be done. I need to haul out the weed wacker and be grass chopping princess for a few hours. That falls under my responsibility because I like my plants to live and hubby goes Whoops way to many times! At least I am no longer Grass Mowing Queen! I held that title for over 25 years until the carpal tunnel kicked in and then the shoulder added it's 2 cents!
So have a great day everyone! I will be trying to sneak in some reading, crocheting and rug hooking!
Dilly

Re: Happy Humpday! 16th May
Morning peeps...
Today is Zack's 17th birthday. He's the quietest of my four so you don't hear much about him...but he's funny & content...and loves baseball statistics. I can't understand how much stuff goes into his brain & never leaves! My dad would have loved watching games with him if alzheimers hadn't claimed his life. We're taking him out for an early dinner before we head to another baseball game. I'm making Zack's favorite cookies to take to the game & pass around.
Let me know if you need the recipe!
Have a great day everyone...janie

Re: Happy Humpday! 16th May
Oh yum, chocolate cookies! What time is the game?
I've got to get dressed and drive the kiddos to school. I'm torching today for the first time in a couple of months. I'm kind of dreading it. I know the first beads will be crappy looking and I'll feel like a newbie again. But if I don't go through that, I won't get back to where I was a few months ago. Send the muse my way!

Re: Happy Humpday! 16th May
Morning everyone.
Ginger ice is sure hard on blenders. Chews em up. I will say though that using them to make frit gives them an even shorter life .
Ellen sorry to hear your boy is sick. Sometimes the local food can be a bit rough.
Dilly 70 is not hot. That is just starting to warm up. Have fun weed wacking.
Beth happy birthday to Zach. And yes I would gladly take a copy of the recipe. I am sure my kids would love them.
Have a good walk Leslie
Enjoy your bible study Karen.
Off to make tile and then on to the studio tonight. Still trying to make thin work. Getting closer. Just have to watch my heats a bit closer.
Have a good one

Re: Happy Humpday! 16th May
Janie - SEND ME THAT RECIPE! No - don't. Yes, please do. No - don't listen to me. I need to enter some kind of 12 step program for sweet eaters.
Although, I guess if you posted it on the daily thread that wouldn't be like [i]sending[i] it directly TO me, right?

Janie, I'd loved a cookie but I guess I'd settle for the recipe.

Re: Happy Humpday! 16th May
Morning
Janie- post it here! I'm going to need chocolate cookies in a few days.Tell Zack Happy 17th birthday from the morning Glass Gang.
And my DS will eat most of them so I'll be safe.
Ginger- glad we have these cool mornings it really feels like May use to.
Ellen -enjoy your coffe with friends. Thailand looks so cool but the food sounds scary.
Beth I'm sure you will get those bead coming out great after a little warm up.
Dilly I will have to learn to use the weed wacker andf the riding mower after DS leave for school in the fall. I have really never done that part of the yard work because I hate the noise.
Leslie a walk sound wonderful enjoy
Karen - hugs back at you
Carlos - Enjoy the glass today. When you say make tile are you making fusing tiles to do a roll up?
Sharon - Hi how are you
Me still getting things together for the hubbys move- this is so weird - we have done it before but this time I don't have a small child or even a college kid at home( well for a little bit this suummer DS is home) I think I'm having a harder time with him leaving this time because we don't have any idea how long it will last. I'm so glad he got the job we needed it desperatly
But the fact that I'm going to be limited in my schedule and he only has Sundays off is going to make it hard to see each other.
OK shutting up and stopping the whining
Everyone have a great day!
Sam
Ps forgive spelling please-who knows what I've misspelled

Re: Happy Humpday! 16th May
Sam, I'm headed your way on Memorial weekend. We are going to the Texas Arts and Crafts Fair in Kerrviille. I'd love to pop in and meet you in person. We'll see if the schedule allows for a stop in SA.

Re: Happy Humpday! 16th May
WARNING...These could be dangerous to your health 'cause they are addictive! They've quickly become our family's favorites....
Giant Double Chocolate Cookies
Yield: 12 very large cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) cold, unsalted butter, cubed
1¼ cup sugar
2 large eggs
½ cup dark cocoa powder
2¼ cups all-purpose flour
¼ tsp. coarse salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350˚ F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine the butter and sugar. Beat together on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, 2-3 minutes. Blend in the eggs one at a time, scraping down the bowl as needed. Mix in the cocoa powder until well blended. Add the flour, salt and baking powder to the bowl and mix on low speed just until incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula. Transfer the dough to a work surface and knead briefly by hand to be sure the ingredients are well combined.
Divide the dough into 4 ounce portions (or divide into 12 equal pieces). Roll each portion of dough into a ball and flatten just slightly into a disc. Place on the prepared baking sheets, a few inches apart. Bake 16-20 minutes. Let cool on the baking sheets 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Re: Happy Humpday! 16th May
Ok Janie. Recipe copied, saved to disk, and printed. You can never be too sure about these things right . Thanks.
Sam the tiles I am working on are for work. The company I work for makes two different specialty items. We make glass eyes for taxidermy and artists, and we make textured hand decorated glass tile for buildings (walls) and artists. Currently I am working at the tile shop getting things organized and working on ways to improve the process.
