**~LD- after much time * its hard to keep goin~
I have been struggling along with the LD---
Its been awhile and I know very well the anatomy, but in the heat of the moment to get it all down, my eye and hand dont coorperate !!!!
Gerhhhh!!! I know I know its the practice- practice, for a lifetime !!
But anyway here tis the mess of it all.
1 or 2 min cant remember
I think 5 min
I think 10 min
These were 20 min each pose, two differant models,
but the same model on each page
She took her hair down
I know some of the images arent' that great.
I find it very hard to keep it all goin and keep up with general life also
I dont know how you artist's do it with a day job.
I know I need to dig in again !

Its All good sweet Lady ... you are doing just fine in my eyes .. you know my thoughts and I love and admire your pushing on when Life allows you Carol ... I love that charcoal and the last few are well hold for me a sensitivity of an Artist finding her control again ....xxx
Ps ~heres the student in me coming out now (Yeah shes in there somewhere amongst all the glamour ) ... some advice take or Leave it darling its up to you , I think yes Anatomy is most certainly needed and it does start to show in an artist thats learning it to say one that hasnt , but that doesnt mean its not also just as pleasant to veiw someone's work in general opposed to one that has that training ... guess Im trying to say when we draw the human , we must take into account alot more then just Anatomy , there is also form and Line/make making , etc... the way in which we approach any drawing , must have forethought with a veiw to all these things ,And I know you know this , just reinforceing it for those that care to read and care about being the best they can be ... .... and this is never easy for any of us ... only trying to share my learning here with you Carol and I know you get me here ~your so worth it in my eyes .....

Even with the blurry image, the second drawing is quite lovely. I think you are doing very well indeed. I'm not usually too successful at blending two colors of conte (if that's what you were using), but you do it expertly. Nice stuff. Geo

Re: **~LD- after much time * its hard to keep goin~
Thanks Sandra--- Yep-- I need to rehearse myself-- well I do know all that anatomy, but I have not been doing LD to utilize it( with eye hand coordination ) and your right, its an artist trying to get the conrol.
And well here i go again off for the summer. My process seems to constantly get interupted, or If Im using a model==when i have the time-- I just want to paint usually the portrait.
Oh well-- I'll never be a great master, and I want to enjoy it so I will take it as it comes.
Hey- Please tell me agin how to get a quote into a box into a reply.
I have never figured that one out.

You do know that your "worst" drawings are still more skillful than most "best" from the rest of us!! (with a few exceptions, of course!)
It is frustrating when you have had a break and you come back to find the hand won't do what the eyes see. But... thinking and "seeing" are not all lost. And you don't forget what is going on, you just lose a bit of speed and precision, maybe.
Good to see some work from you, anyway- I wish you lots of time for painting and drawing!

Couldn't have said it better myself!
The last one has two wonderful drawings on it.

Miss Beth ~
I tried to get that box around this but it just dont work for me.
You are always very encouregning and it means a lot to me.
Yes its frustrating, because well--- in just 3 weeks now we leave for the summer travels again !!! I would prefer to stay home. It is very disrupting to my art process.
But I must also look at being greatful for the fact that i am an artist at all and can share this world with others such as you my dear. as I look up to you greatly.
another aspect-- in ref to LD-- is that I spend most time I have doing the head in portaiture, and so now lose ground in that eye-hand coodination with LD. I really need to kick my rear--- so to speak.
bethany-- thank you so much for your support.

Good shapes Carol in pages 2 and 3 and the 10 minutes one. Love the little portraits in the last two. What size are these?

Hi Nathan ~ Thanks for the support~ I know I need to work at the LD some more. HMMMMMM !!
The paper is I think 18 x 24, the last two are on canson paper.
Ok now I did hit that quote button on right and what it did was---
put the entire post into my post WITHOUT that box around it.

Re: **~LD- after much time * its hard to keep goin~
Hi Carol - some good thoughts from the crew above! These are fine! I am glad you posted them! One thing that it sounds like you are working to do, is to calm your mind when doing your figures. Calm the mind and have a plan: as in " I will look for the gestural" or "I will just get down the shape and shadow areas" - keeping it simple - and having a plan - especially after some time off from life drawing can help. Or, it helps sometimes, and then there are ->
just..
those...
days!
-Kevin

Re: **~LD- after much time * its hard to keep goin~
Oh Kevin~ Kevin My man-- well your not MY man- but you get it !!
Ok I need to pick yr brain some more.
Im thinking I need to go backward and just do construction for awhile``
Well- awhile -for me is 3 weeks then off galvanting around again gerhhh!!!
I would love to stay home and work at this,, but then when I get a chance to get into painting--- what do I do
I go painting the head and portraits again.
But I know my LD needs some work!!!!
OK--- calm the mind--- you right-- I am getting frustrated
When you know what you have done and see in front of you how have slid backward its frustrating. I know it shows here.
What do you have to say about this---
Where the LD is ---is a very cramped space and the model is maybe 4 ft away on the pedistal.
I find it extremely hard to see the model in a smaller virsion as Im looking down and looking up at the same time. Don't know if this explains very well.
Do you have any suggestions about this ( well I see it as a problem) but maybe its just me.
And I did want to post my not so good stuff --- also !
