The Last Hoorah!
Unfortunately, my life drawing group has ceased to be. Monday was the last session after five years without a break (three years and a bit for me). There's a slim chance that it may resume in September, but there's no good reason to assume there will be a rush of new members after the summer months. So, I'll probably drive the forty miles or so to Waterford, where there's still a life drawing group running (although reportedly struggling too), well maybe fortnightly anyway. It was appropriate to finish up with Catherine as our model, since she has been there since the beginning.
Here are some of the quickies (2 and 3 min):-
This is the long pose (about an hour and twenty minutes). I had to rush the head and it's a bit odd looking, but I think it's an easy fix (any suggestions would be appreciated though). As usual, it's soft pastel on 50cm x 65cm Murano paper.

Michael, I am so sorry to hear about that! ( I almost wrote " so sorry to hear of your loss - like there has been a death ).. I don't know what I would do with myself w/o access to life drawing!

Well, it feels a bit like that, Kevin! But I have a three day life drawing workshop to look forward to in early Jume, and I'll try to get to as many of the sessions in Waterford as possible. But it was an awful lot easier when it was just five minutes away!

Re: The Last Hoorah!
Sorry to hear about the sessions Michael. I'm lucky that close to London there is a variety of sessions available though it is a pain than one of my regular sessions isn't running. The downside is I live close to London (quite populated, not so much space).
Lovely rhythm with the short poses and I like what you're doing with the focus in the last one. It seems a bit odd with the point of interest around her bottom (or the most in focus) but it works well to push the background back. Because of that I'm not sure there is much to clear up around her face.
Have fun at the workshop.

Thanks Nathan. I did have a look from the other side, but there were no shadows there, i.e. my "fetish" is a shadow thing! Even though her face is blurred, the angle still looks a bit uncomfortable/unnatural to me.

Re: The Last Hoorah!
Ahhh, Michael - I hated to hear that about your Life Drawing Group. I know even though I don't get to draw much in my group, if we had to stop it, I would find a way to hire the models for myself and Jan at least once a month. If we could afford it, of course. Hopefully, perhaps you can do that. I always look forward to seeing your offerings. Geo

That would be great, Geo, but I'd have to win the lotto first! Models here tend to get €20 per hour. But then again, I suppose if one were to eliminate room hire by using the studio, it might be viable for 3-4 of us to get together occasionally.

I echo Nathan's comments and observations. What a wonderful glow you get with your colours. The quickies, as usual, are brimming with life.
We will burn the joss sticks for you and hope that out of the smoke will emerge your model(s).
