Sunset
Not sure of the title yet. 16 x 20, oil on wood
I tried something a little new. My reference had strong morning light so all of the color is a fabrication of imagination and looking at some of James Reynold's work. He makes it look easy. I did not find it so easy. It took a lot longer to get everything figured out (but not sure it is figured out).
Comments and expert advice is welcomed.

Re: Sunset
Ah.. so this is what you've been up to!
I ALWAYS love seeing what comes off your easel. This is no exception.
And you make it look easy, no matter if you don't think so!!
I have not a single suggestion... it's perfect...

I'll say.. you figured it out. (Did I ever say how much I like Orange and Magenta) I love the blue in the clouds which really seems to set it off. Guess I like it all.. Beautiful piece Jim!!

Re: Sunset
Wow, this is powerful and peaceful at the same time. It looks really hard to paint, but you handled it very well! The sky is so beautiful, and there is a great sense of friendship between the man and his horse. Another excellent work, Jim, and I'm happy to see a new painting from you.

Re: Sunset
You did a suburb job with this. I've found very little direct use for red and when I did it always fell short of my expections. Very nice painting and well done. I have seen red morning like this. Excellent.

Re: Sunset
Jim,
I've been treated to many mornings AND evenings just like this. You have captured the mood, colors and the overall feel of it very well indeed.

Re: Sunset
Having long been fascinated with horses and the way sunsets bathe everything in color, I'd say you nailed it

Re: Sunset
I really appreciate everyones comments. You all are so kind.
I often finish a painting and say, "I need to wait and decide later what I think" because it is all I am looking at so for so long. The other issue is looking at work by artist that are so better than what I come up with. But that is how you learn.

Re: Sunset
This is very dramatic. I really like the gesture, too.
