Racing Whippets
Complete change of pace for me with this. I wanted to try a minimalist approach to this action scene.
As always all your comments and critiques are very welcome

Re: Racing Whippets
Great sense of movement and I love its simplicity. Having trouble seeing face of dog second from left - may be size of picture on screen. Lovely work Marie.

Re: Racing Whippets
Well done, I really like all that you do. Must have been hard to get the movement as they seem small. What size is this piece? Are you involved in or go to the races?
Whippets are lovely, they are very loyal.
I love dogs, use to work with a lot of them before hubby and I decided to have children. I also began training my cavalier for agility, but had to stop as he couldn't continue due to serious health problems and his only 3 years old.

Re: Racing Whippets
Thanks Karen, Operarose, Clydeine, Pat and SmudgedBlue for such positive comments. This is 8.5 x 11.5 inches on Strathmore pastel paper, there is some distortion of colour as the paper is actually a pale neutral green. I have a passion for whippet racing it is a hobby here. People take their pet whippets along on weekends to race them, meet up with friends, sometimes we all camp for the weekend or the week. I have five whippets myself so I very often struggle to find room to sit on the armchairs as they are full of hounds

Re: Racing Whippets
If I remember right -Whippets don't need a lot of exercise, well no more than the average dog, amI right Marie?
This a fantastic and dynamic piece and I think your more minimilist approach works really well with the subject and perceived action .
Another fantastic artwork Marie -I wish I had your fire I am soooo... slow and I go days without doing anything and I don't know why as I love art .

Marie, you certainly have achieved your goal. I love the movement and delicacy of the colours.

Re: Racing Whippets
Thanks Lynn, Angela, Ali and Chammi, I really appreciate your lovely comments.
Ali is quite right Angela, whippets are actually quite lazy. They will go for a walk if you want to but they will stay on the sofa if you can't go out, especially if the weathers bad. They really hate bad weather. So we have enough walks to help to keep us all fit......well some of us anyway

Re: Racing Whippets
Definitely like the movement you've captured and the varied positions that accentuate the musculature of your whippets. I might suggest a stronger shadow under them, although at the moment they appear ready to leap from the paper.
Have you thought of selling these at your whippet race gatherings? I think you'd do quiet well.
