Austraila/New Zealand Trip

Well here are my sketches all roughly 7x5 in my sketchbook. Some are better than others, but all have happy memories of a wonderful time we had.

Hotel Bistro the morning after we arrived - waiting for Peter and family to arrive.

Walked down to the bay alongside the Botanic Gardens, sat on the wall to sketch the Opera House and Bridge, an iconic view:

Opera House from McMahon's Point Ferry:

Sydney Skyline:

From the ferry:

Palm at Taronga Zoo:

Custom House at Circular Quay (standing):

Pharmacy, Circular Quay:

Manley Beach:

Cafe, Hamilton Gardens

Chinese Garden, Hamilton Gardens:

McLaren Falls:

Mount Manganui, Bay of Plenty:

More to follow.

EDIT: Pitt pen, Cotman Pocket Plus palette and Pentel waterbrush.

Doug

Visited Tirau, a small town with quirky shop signs and Visitor centre.

Oxford Cafe:

Tirau Visitor Centre in the shape of a dog and a sheep:

Cabbage Tree Cafe:

Poppy's Cafe:

John's garden and Man Cave:

Casa Bella arcade, Hamilton:

John's veggie garden:

Huka Falls, Taupo:

Lake Taupo:

Auckland Skyline:

Esplanade Hotel, Devonport:

Hotel Ibis, Sydney Airport:

As I said some are better than others but all are wonderful memories.

Doug that looks like a sketchbook to be treasured, very clear and bright eyewitness views of real live scenes... and much better than photos!

Re: Austraila/New Zealand Trip

Thanks guys, sketches usually take around 20 minutes. The Tirau visitor centre took around half an hour.

Excellent work Doug! I love your style! I've spent quite a bit of time in Mt. Mounganoui - you really captured it!

Doug, great stuff. Lots of light, fun and energy in your work. I will drag in Judy to have a look at your Sydney things. One of our favorite spots.
Have fun, Dave

Thanks Dave. I was most impressed with Sydney a perfect base for a holiday. Pity it is so far away.

Re: Austraila/New Zealand Trip

On this occasion, because I couldn't fly with ink I used a fine Pritt pen for the sketches instead of my Lamy Safari.

Those sketches are a lot of fun! A great way to record your trip, better than any camera could capture!
