New commission painting

Painted this 24x36 oil on stretched canvas as a commission from a friend. She had a photo of a painting a friend of her's mom had done to use as reference. I'm not a seasoned veteran as an artist and am not too comfortable painting to meet someone else's expectation and with their "instruction" quite yet, but I muddled though it the best I could. Painting from my own choice is much more fun.

Re: New commission painting

This is so cool! I love all the colors you put into this group of gangly fellas. It's got a classic feel, yet the brightness of the painting makes this fresh and new. I love it! Congratulations on your commission; I'm sure they'll be thrilled with this piece!

I can relate to the fact that you find painting for yourself more fun, Larry. I love to get commissions, but I never enjoy the process of creating them as much as I do when I pick what I want to draw.

Very clever--with true bright SW colors. I love all of the bright, cheery work of late!

Re: New commission painting

Larry.. It is a lot more fun painting from inside.. When you paint for others their wants and gimmies in life tend to get in the way of your vision.

Love the colors... the vertical colors of the figures with the horizontal complimentary background colors really makes it fun.
