Winter Stroll
Hi Everyone,
Heres a quickie for today.... definately out of my comfort zone (buildings AND people! ) but it was fun.
Pentels and Neopastels on Watercolor Paper.
C&C always welcome and appreciated.
Thanks for looking,
Ree

Re: Winter Stroll
Thanks Carol, I appreciate your comments!
Pentel is a very inexpensive brand of oil pastels.

Re: Winter Stroll
This is a very cool painting Reeta. It's like looking through a fogged-up window into the street w/a snow fall and seeing people out and about. You know the details are there, and yet you don't see them. I like how you demonstrated this scene w/mostly grays.
I like this one.

Re: Winter Stroll
Very different for you Ree. I like the nice abstract feel that you have achieved.
Definitely winter.

Re: Winter Stroll
Thank you Tam and Pat. I appreciate the comments. Tam, there definately is "so little" here... after I posted it I wondered whether I might have gone overboard on the lack of detail.

Re: Winter Stroll
Hi Ree,
I don't think there is a lack of detail, this painting is more about the mood and I think the minimalism it great. I wish I could draw with such minimalism.

Re: Winter Stroll
Ree - Maybe saying "so little" was not a good way to put it...LOL. I guess what I wanted to say was you made us see so much without all of the details as others have stated. You have inspired me actually - I'm working on a piece of my kids, and I am trying to keep a light touch and not focus on the little details.

Thanks Tali and Tam!I appreciate the comments.
No Tam, it was a fine way to say it, I got what you meant. I was just wondering if I might have gone overboard with the lack of details. In hindsight I think that perhaps the tower in the back could have had a bit more detail to draw your eye into the back of the painting more. Thanks for taking the time to comment again.

Re: Winter Stroll
Wonderful impressionist feel to this, Ree ... I like it very much!
Maybe if one goes overboard with a lack of something, it should be referred to as going underboard. In any case, I don't think you went underboard with this one. Its simplicity is its charm.
Where is the scene?
