This is the second painting from a photo I took while in Australia last year.

You have created a calm, pleasant atmosphere. I really like the soft dreaminess, and your color choice of pink flowers, then sort of sage, then hint of purple in the mountains and fun colors in the sky. What is that sharp, dark stick thing in the bottom left corner? Does not belong there. I do want something to be in focus, though I think you would have to do a lot more work on the painting to get a proper focused versus not focused balance.

That stick is the canvas holder at the bottom of my French easel. I should have turned it down out of the way of the photo.

I'd like to see a bit darker value in shadows beneath brush where circled or in this area to assure as the diagonals lead the eye to the darker vertical tree mass, and the point land mass brings the eye over that it does not leave the picture plane, but is pulled down more assuredly to create something of a circular compositional design...manipulating and moving the eye...

I'm an Australian.. the light [even on overcast days] and the landscape foliage etc. need fixing. And what shark could live in such pretty water...?
