Excellent! I've been doing a variation of this with "shadowbox" frames for several years. Usually use a black mat board to back it, and occasionally insert a thin ivory or color mat against the glass, lending more to the "floating" illusion. My version isn't quite gallery-quality, but works pretty well for more humble displays (and I've one 4-time client who insists on this method for continuity sake; as I have done his cars and bikes, I've done a small Chevy or Harley emblem in the upper right corner of the top mat).
