Re: Viviens STILLMAN AND BIRN experiments

Thanks Rainy, Joan and John

I like rainy days in the countryside, especially if there are scudding clouds and flashes of sunlight on parts of the landscape - but in the city it was just leaden clouds and dark gloomy light - and again today

Ok so now I've tried out the Epsilon book with the plate finish. I thought I'd see how it coped with water soluble media first, even though that isn't what it's meant for. Just curiosity - it coped well though it I liked the result much better in the books designed for using washes.

This was the result

which looks much better cropped to this

And then I did some not-very-good sketches of the resident tiger who moved constantly - washing, thinking about going off for her dinner and finally snoozing, but still not keeping still!

done with my mechanical pencil and a 2B lead

The paper is perfect for this, with the pencil flowing freely across the paper. This book is going to be for pencil and pen drawings and maybe the odd water soluble ink or graphite.
