Bleeding Hearts
A few weeks ago I put a painting I'd finished on facebook. One of my friends requested a painting of bleeding hearts. She joked she could never keep them alive, and could I paint them. It was strangely difficult. I found it very challenging to get it even close. What do you think?

Re: Bleeding Hearts
This turned out lovely I think she will be thrilled. I know you'd think these would be far more easy..haha my granddaughter loves them and I have a huge bush of them I painted her one too. Did you ever take them apart and find the princess slippers, candles, wine bottle and bunny rabbits..haha that's what got my kids hooked on them.

Very graceful painting, love it!

It's very pretty - would love to see it bigger!

I can't seem to grow them for more than a year either!:(

Re: Bleeding Hearts
Maureen, I have a bush that I've had in my garden for years. If anything, I'd have to say that mine thrive on neglect. They are in a west facing bed that tends to get very dry (& warm) in the summertime. Here's a photo of mine, and yes, it may be used as a reference photo.

Janet...kudos to you for tackling a painting of a bleeding heart. I think I would find them challenging.....I tend to see all of the nitty details when attempting a drawing or painting. Good job!
