Monthly Pen & Ink Project -- February, 2012.
Hi Everyone,
The following are the Images for our Monthly P&I Project, and I hope lots of you will join in and have some fun with all of us during the month.
Rules For The Monthly P&I Project:-
1) Use one or more of the photos.
2) Credit the Photographer of the photo(s) in your first post. They are listed in the first post each month.
3) Drawings may be any size, as small or as large as you like.
4) You may choose to pen in all black, all monochrome, or coloured penwork. If you wish you may also use a wash of Watercolours or Coloured Pencils etc. Entirely your choice, as long as Pen and Ink is a major contribution.
5) Cropping, combining, adding, subtracting to the work is all allowed.
6) All drawings from these Images must be posted in this Thread -- do not start a new one.
7) Create a beautiful piece of artwork for us all to enjoy, and most of all, have fun.

Hey! Good mahwnin' Sunshine, thanx again for the thoughtful selections.
I suspect the most difficult will be the pumpkins and Lee, but ya never know.
Got lots of homework this week, so not sure when I'll get started...
Greg
Lots of great selections as usual. Very challenging. Can't wait to get started:))

I'm not a regular in the Pen and Ink forum, but I've recently learned to swing by to check on the monthly challenges. Val, you pick photos that are so tempting! I still have to do that adorable, fluffy cat from last month too. There are several photos here that make me wish I could do pen and ink. :)

The pumpkin one looks great, if can get to rendering it with flame orange and lemon yellow, making it like one of Weber's watercolors of the subject... a thought anyway, so much on my plate as is, am not sure if can take the time for it [but will keep it in mind at least ]...

If anyone has a photo of their own that they would like Val to consider using in the future, let her know and she will tell you what to do.....
They must first be entered into the Reference Library (I think).

Okay, I scratched out a couple of these. Lee I did twice and I'm not excited about how it came out but I am tired of scribling and so here is Portrait of Lee by Nonamae. I used Micron 0.05 and an old dried up black Prismacolor marker.
It is 8x5.5 on 130#CP paper.
http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/02-Feb-2012/48161-WC-2012-011.jpg
Then I looked at Donigal by Houigan and decided to try that one. Same paper, 4x6 inches. Micron 0.05 & 0.01.

So, I actually posted this last night, and this morning it was gone! I was reluctant to post again until I found out lots of posts had disappeared. Anyway, I never was good at drawing animate things, so I was loathe to try the nuthatch... but, for my second P&I, here is a mixed media attempt. Started with the pen, then added some color pencil.
http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/18-Feb-2012/986782-Nuthatcha.jpg
A bit crude, but a start I guess. I'll probably go back to landscapes, etc.
I posted this last night but I'm not finding it so here it is again. My quick stab at the nuthatch.709232

Looks like I'm the first to take on this photo this month. Architecture is good subject for pen and ink and this one had some tough challenges. Lots of shading that was all about the same color and many details you can't capture, but still need to create the illusion that they exist. I got sloppy in a few areas, but overall I'm happy with my progress on building drawings.

Hey guys, I figured I'd do another one before the month ends. I'm having a lot of fun with doing portraits using a pen.

I'm just barely making it by the end of the month (thank goodness it's a leap year), but here's my drawing of the nuthatch. I always have liked this bird and was glad to see it in this month's project.
