Is this a WIP? If it is, what medium are you planning to do this in? Looks like you are off to a nice start.

Looking good! I think you've given him a "quieter" eye than in the reference photo, though!

Looking great so far! It's agreat deal darker than the photo, though. Looks like a black horse instead of a grey. Or is it just the scan?

Hi all!!

Yes, the bad images were the scan... My scanner really ticked me off!!
But I finished it this morning and delivered it to the Owner...

She is thrilled with it!! She was so thrilled she want's me to do her Quater horse Tuffy too! He's a huge 16.3 hand Chestnut with lots of chrome!! He is to die for!! I went and took some photos to day of her two new foals and thier moms.

And some great action photos of her two year olds (including Sockett the horse in this WIP). They were running in the feild so Beautiful!!! I took 4 rolls of 24 exposures each!! I can't wait to get them developed!! I got some really great shots!!

But the owner of this horse is a web designer she is gonna scan it for me, so I can show its true look! So I am sorry you have to wait to se it finished......SORRY!!! But it will be worth the wait! She has a much better scanner and it will look much better!

By the way I changed the eye per the owners request, he got spoked in the photo from the flash, it looked unnatraul compaired to his nature. (he is the bigest baby!! So sweet he thinks he's a lap dog!!!)

Thank you to all!!!!!!

Thank you Caron!!

Unfortunatley I have to wait for the owner to scan the final???

But I will post it as soon as I get the scan from her!! I promise!!

My scanner kills my pencil darwings makes them look way to dark and just plain awful!! So I will try to get her to scan it on her really good scanner and send it ASAP.

Yes I have found it increasingly difficult to either paint or get onto the computer over the past few weeks due to working approx. 60 hours per week! In fact I am sending this from work!
I've got to get another job!!!!
I've got a couple of days off next week so I will be able to start a portrait commission I've recently been given.
I am about to check out your new web site so I will let you have my comments.

All the best

Lovely work on your web site! I do think you are a little to cheap though. I mean $110 (about £70) is a bit cheap for all of that lovely time consuming but enjoyable work.
Saying that I am also to blame for undercharging on my web site so who am I to moan!
I find it difficult to work out a price for a painting because you don't want to be to cheap but you also don't want to scare them away with a hefty price.
You don't want to charge by the hour as for one I never count how long a painting actually takes simply because I paint for the love of it and a means of getting away from every day life. I am sure all artists have the same feeling that when you paint/draw whatever everything around you just disapears! It's great when you have got a nagging partner!!!:D

Keep those excellent paintings flowing, I'm certainly going to try!

I am so glad your doing well!!!!! I was sincerly conserned!! I am glad your are well, but I do hope your job allows for more art and WC time in the future!! I miss your witty commentary!!!:D The WC is is no fun with out you!!!;)

You liked my website, Thank you!!!! I love your website!!! It means alot to me to have a positive resonce from you!!

On the subject of prices, it is hard to price art I agree!! I have a hard time with knowing what to charge simply because in my area the price of art varies greatly and due to the economy it makes it even tougher!! But I plan to raise my prices as my knowledge and experiance grows!! :) Right now I am just thrilled to have people want my art!!!! I guess i am still in the star struck vase of my short carrer!!

But in any case it is great to see you on the WC even if if it is only for a brief moment!! I can't wait to see your new portrait, You wiil post it won't you??? Oh, I do hope so!!!

take care and I hope all things work out for you!!!!!

God bless, Christina

Christina, the drawing looks great, but I'm wondering about your scanner--is it going to black and white when you scan? If so, try adjusting the setting to true color and letting all the grays come through. Right now I can't see the front of the horses face, and it looks like an ink drawing.

Keep up the good work,

Wes

YES!!

Wes, my scanner is a peice of poop!! I have a: hp psc 750. I have tried to reset it three times now but it is still doing the same thing!!

I have given this portrait to the owner of the horse and if she gets time she is supposed to scan it on her scanner..... But I have caught her in the middle of foaling time! she has a rather large farm and she is so busy she's not even able to come to the phone more or less scan the finished portrait!!

I am gonna try to go out thier to day and take a couple digital photos of it in natrual light if I can.... I hope that she doesn't mind....

Thank you so much, Wes!! I qam gonna play with my scanner today and see if it wont help!! I am starting another portrait of her All around show Quater horse "Tuffy" today that I a want to post but... if my scanner keeps acting up I won't be able to!!

Oh and the front of the horses face was completely white, in the last scan it came through correct.... I hadn't done anything to that part except a few slight marks to give me an idea of where it ended... I fixed in the finished portrait but I have to wait to show you it!!!! Sorry!!

Thanks again!! Christina

Thank you Lorna, Paul and Jennifer!!

I am so glad you all like it!! It was not as hard as I thought it might be being as large as it was 8"x11" in pencil that can get tedious!! But I working on his Show/Stable mate tuffy now. If you care to watch you can find him on this forum under "Strutin Tuff" Quarter Horse Wip.

Thanks again guys!!!
