Hi !
I just did this rough water-colour painting, I'm still not sure about the colors and the light composition. Should the girl's dress be yellow ? Should the light source come from another angle ?
By the way, I intend to make the girl asian, so that the yellow tones in her skin will complement the cat's brown-red fur !!

If you keep the background that shade of green, I'd make the dress a sunny yellow, and the cat more orangey...If you want to keep the dress red, I'd make it a brighter red, chg. the background to a darker blue-ish green, and tone the cat's red tones more grayish...

can you take a photo of this outside without the flash? it's hard to comment on it like it is.

Thanks for the speedy reply.
I have modified it again by taking the light-flare out.
So, is the yellow dress still a good choice ?

The yellow really gives it a good shot of life! That is one HUGE cat she's holding! And I thought my YamCat was big!:D
I think I like your new bk color, too, but please do the shading from lighter around the subject to darker at the edges. It gives it a nice feeling of depth without making it too busy...
Looking great! :D

I find my eye going to the yellow and not the cat. If that's what you're after, then it's fine...I personally liked madster's idea of doing the cat in that orangy color, but I would have left the dress as it was, allowing the cat and face on the girl to be the focus.
