Any way nicely done.

Absolutely beautiful! The colors are so rich the piece seems to glow.

Thank you for showing your process! Seeing how each layer helps develop the color is very helpful.

Very nice Kathie. I had a teacher in college who told me it takes two to do a painting - one to paint and the other to whack them over the head when it's done. I would've whacked you over the head at the second last photo. I prefer the slightly more painterly and bit more atmoshperic effect of the hints of stings. Just my opinion, it's a really lovely painting and I echo the others who commented on your growth as an artist.

Thank you for posting different phases of the piece. This was very helpful to me as I am a newbie painter. I appreciate the precision and detail in your work. Question: Did you use a ruler to get the strings so perfectly straight? I didn't notice them as straight in your sketch. Oh, and how to you "correct" a crooked line if needed?

Yvie, Sorry I wanted before to reply to your question about the strings and just realized I never explained. I use a angle/dagger brush which when held on the side, (kinda like an exacto knife blade would be if your cutting) to paint the lines... I use thinned paint to an inky consisitancy.
I keep looking at it from the side, and you can see if there is a curve or what and fix it... by rinsing out the brush right away and using it damp I go back and wipe the edge of the painted line untill I remove the amount a I want.
its really easy to remove paint you just painted with a damp brush, you wont remove the dried paint below. I do it all the time.
give it a try, practice some!!

Thanks Kathie! Stunning work. I'll have to pick up one of those brushes and start practicing. With me, it's mostly for buildings as I like doing cityscapes. :)
