'Poppy Love' 5x7
I have been working on the new Canson MT Touch paper this week and really enjoying it. For this painting I did a watercolor underpainting. I want to try the white paper next since the watercolor is more vibrant on white. I was using flannel grey paper.

I chose a limited palette of pastels which are an assortment of Ludwigs,Great Americans and Diane Townsends (all my favorites) I Love Terry Ludwig pastels for the rich vibrant flower colors!

My goal was to avoid covering up all of the underpainting and make the poppies 'pop' and not look dull. I started with an 8x10 piece of paper but ending up cropping to 5x7 because I had too much uninteresting foreground. I am really enjoying this paper. It is soft and velvety to the touch but takes a wet underpainting and holds a lot of pastel. I got 90 layers on my test piece! I am writing about my experiences with this paper on my blog. It has been so much fun to try a new surface!
