Hi I am starting portraits at my painting class and this would be my first portrait in oils. This is the sketch for the broken pitcher by Bouguereau but i feel its too sad looking  And i have not done the darks as i will just need the outline to trace it onto my canvas.
Please do let me know what you think..
Any comments and feedback is welcome

If this is your first crack at a portrait in oil it will be difficult to be satisfied with your result since Bouguereau was brilliant at portraying emotion in his painting; very hard to duplicate. That being said you have great taste!

I suggest that you print the picture you want to copy and then create a grid overlay, so you're able to adjust the size to what you need it to be. Keep things as simple as possible, and be sure to define the shapes within the painting, but don't fill them in with graphite to avoid mud.

GL and HF with the painting :)
