Larry the vase is beautifully handled the turning form on that is just wonderment :D If I may be allowed to say, I would think that white cloth at the Back is not needed, I feel the comp would only enhance that vase if it was removed but these are just one persons thoughts ~ well done!

I am amazed at the way you bring in sparkle in your work. I have always failed in it. Do you use glazing technique? I request you to take some time in showing some WIPs that lead to such a wonder.:clap::clap:

Wonderful painting! I love the combination of colors and how the background gives an added emphasis on the subject. Great work of art!

I appreciate your comments. I think you bring up a good point. Is the cloth adding or taking away? The painting is gone now, but I will look on my stored images and experiment.

I do glaze on many occasions. It seems the last few months have been a blur, and I will attempt a work in progress sometime in the not too distant future.

I agree with loving art the cloth for me leads the eye out of the painting or it could be more in shadow texture brings the b/g forward. It's a gorgeous painting though.

I appreciate everyone's comments. The painting sold quickly through one of the galleries, but I have made a mental note regarding the comments and will utilize the input in future works. Again, thanks.

Larry- I have a question if I may-- Do you intermiently work into one area without glaze and in the same sitting or even another one-- use glazing just in certain areas? I am curious as to if this can cause shiny and dull areas.

Hi Carol. I work with mediums most of the time allowing me to control the amount of glaze I use in certain areas. I use glazes to achieve the visual look I want...maybe little or no glaze in other areas to achieve a certain look in the same manner. In my opinion, mediums allow us a larger tool box to work with in getting our visual language across to our viewers. Some areas may appear more shiny than others initially, but a dusting of retouch varnish can get everything back to a fairly consistent degree of reflectivity.
