I like the grainy texture and the colours. Almost looks like a tapestry. Bet you had fun!!

It's rather lovely!
Not sure what 'pobs' are, but it's a fair take from Vermeer - lovely light, caught well:)
Thanks to everyone that posted, and as I remember ( I,m now over 60), Pobs, was bread soaked in milk and given to young children for breakfast . but perhaps someone will correct me ?

Well done but not sure what pobs are. Recognized this right away.

Nicely done Wilt. Had to Google it to find the original as I hadn't seen it before.
What size is your painting? If I attempted that it wouldn't be resting my brain, more like testing it!

love it very old world
Thanks again folks,
The painting is 11" x 8" on quite a coarse piece of canvas hence the the very noticeable texture. I should have gesso'ed the canvas before starting but it was only done on a whim.
Nice piece has a gentle value and I agree with Kathie, a nice old world feel.
Our art group re-convened after the Christmas break and as I hadnt really sorted out something to paint I took the Vermeer back in for a fiddle ,everything is really work in progress with me I,m afraid , I often only give up out of fatigue <grn> :-

I love Vermeer and you have done him justice. I recently did Girl with Pearl Earring, but this is a more interesting study.
Milk Toast. At least that is what my mom calls it. She detested it. To this day, and she is nearing 80, she won't touch a piece of bread unless it is crisp. I make a wonderful dessert called Rasmali, which is similar in concept but 500% better.
Thanks to all the recent viewers and posts .I hadn't checked on it for a while ! I did enjoy doing this and would recommend copying the odd " old master "
I think I learn't something along the way.
