Has anyone taken a pastel portrait workshop with William Schneider? His works are quite wonderful, and I am considering signing up for a workshop in 2012. I would like to hear reactions/reviews from anyone who has taken a workshop with him.

i will say up front that i haven't done any workshops with him .
- i did a net search on him , and clicked the ' workshop ' , so ,
there was mention of Munsell system , Loomis , Schmidt , Sargeant , ( all good )
so i'd want to have a basic understanding of those references
before i put money on the table .
> if the man is good at teaching , he can summarize/instruct
in a way that a newbie can grasp ,
otherwise , you can't catch up to what he says .
if that crossed your mind also ,
hopefully someone else has first hand experience .

You hit the nail on the head.
I am trying to gauge his strength as a teacher vs strength as an artist. Does he convey information well and work well with the attendees, such that you walk away from the workshop with greater understanding and tools to improve your work?

with all respect , i'd hold on to the bucks to fix my old car ( whatever )
and check those references in the meantime .
to mention those is not an idle boast .
> maybe an e-mail inquiry to him would save trouble .
>> be clear and honest about what you need/expect .
- hopefully , the response will be the same .
- and do a lot more searching here at WC !
ps. btw , i need a new battery soon .
you got a relative that can set me up with that ?
