good morning all, on the news yesterday they said so far it is the year with least amount of snow so far since 1953..but those 2 previous year we got alot
jessica hello and hope you have a good day today, i guess your cat started to drink really much aswell or for humans that an early sign good that you found it early but damn those vet costs are insane and you have any insurance for your pets?
i bet the two wonder womans(you and daya) got some candy ,swedish fish haha so you get to visit ikea now and then ?
marcia haha those cats seems eager to get something
sandra yay a we want to see that still life but then those problems you had with the drawing was ofc very disapointing maybe you would have needed a longer rest
nancy atleast you wont need to go and revisit if you get infection that would add to the cost, ahh how fun with himself doing all those tricks he must like it alot, how fun ahh the tiresome of mostly standing in one place for 4 hours is hard worser than walk slowly for 4 hors
Mark sorry you dident get to sell anything but was good to show them i hope
carey will we get to see batman today?
sid vicious ,tina, rolina and marcia hello
painting with watercolor in watercolor in winter outside....i was reading about some guy who in the artic paintinted with watercolors i wonder if he used alcohol, i need to get myself a drivers license and go out and do some winter plein air

Hello Oillee Peeps!
Happy November, I cannot believe we are in the penultimate month of the year and Christmas is just a matter of weeks away. One of the girls in the office opposite mine has started a countdown, I must go and see how many days are actually left....
...back from accross the corridor - 52 days! Just 52!!
OK, yesterday I was a bit slack on the oily rag so I have a lot of news to catch up with.
Jessica, sorry about the vet bill, it gets expensive when they are old and sick, but taking care of your precious cat is the best thing you can do for a faithful friend.
Nancy, ouch and sorry about your car bill and for your wobbly tooth :(
Best of luck with your exhibition - take a seat, that is a good idea.
Sandra, some days are like that when learning art - it just means you are developing more and working through a barrier. You will see a creative leap forward soon, mark my words.
Becca, I think I can do the swap opening, is it going to be 12 noon your time on Saturday, which will be about 5 or 6pm over here? I am out all day, but back by then, so that will be perfectimundo.
Björn that is hopeful news about the winter over there, our last two have been awful and I cant really face it again, a milder one would be fabulous. With regards watercolours in low temperatures, yes, some do add a bit of gin to it to stop it freezing (I think a tot of whiskey in a flask would be a good idea to stop YOU freezing too).
Mark, yes every exhibition is a learning experience (spying on others is useful too). No matter about lack of sales, it is also about getting your name out there and people getting familiar with your work. I hope you had business cards and postcards to give out too. The next exhibition will be much better, I bet!
Hi Carey, Marcia and Sid!
!becca
11-01-2011, 07:05 AM
Mark, like Rolina said, it was a good experience for you.
Bjorn, a mild winter would be nice. Some winter plein air would be nice.:)
Rolina, once again I have managed to create a confusing message:o..I meant Sunday at 12:01am our time...which would probably be 6 am your time(?) And would be Sandra's late Sunday...I am not sure.
Sandra, I have this schedule expecting Steve's visit then...if he isn't coming is the next weekend more certain for you?
Now, I may begin panicing about only 52 days left.

happy november everyone!
I havent recovered yet from October...am off to the pharmacy to get insulin and syringes and glucose strips.....
BTW something interesting the vet said...he said there isn't really any difference between premium pet food and the regular stuff...this was a big surprise to me. Kitty doesn't need prescription food, thank goodness, but she cannot eat dry food anymore.
And of course it is busy at work.

Happy November, everyone!
Pictures of the awesomest Batman ever (and Catwoman) will be coming, I promise. :D
Jessica, I have found that the opinions of animal food vary widely from vet to vet...those who sell Science Diet in their offices always say animals need that  but otherwise mostly I've heard them say it really doesn't matter as long as you feed the proper amount. (My current vet for the pups is really big on proper human nutrition, as well, but for animals he said that the expensive stuff doesn't do anything that the cheap dog food doesn't.)
It's amazing that it is November!

syringes are a hot item among drug users. I am required to keep mine locked up here at work.
we have an epidemic here of pain clinics and people addicted to oxy drugs, aka hillbilly heroin in this area.
stapeliad
11-01-2011, 10:59 AM
Yeah Sid I know it...these require a prescription, the pharmacist said they just weren't getting the stock in.
The vet tech said I could dispose of them normally, no special procedure but I think I prefer they go in the incinerator rather than recycle bin.....

I just googled sharps disposal, because i really am not comfortable putting this stuff in the trash, incinerator or no...the vet will charge me for disposal by weight, but hospitals and nursing homes are required by law to take sharps for disposal. That makes me feel better.

We have a pile of fun size chocs left, nobody knocked on our door....I am worried about this, have we been blacklisted?
Nancy enjoy your hair do.
My bargain pile. I bought a whole load of non-standard frames off a framer a year or so ago, cant remember what I paid but between £2 and £5 each. Last week I got soon-to-be-employed-but-at-the-time-unemployed-Him-Indoors to go to the DIY store to get me some MDF panels cut to fit. He got 8 done to fit the frames, plus two medium and one giant one spare. All for £10! I cant believe how cheap it was. So I've bought some proper primer and just have to paint to fit now.

OK! Back out in the studio today, continuing my landscape, added a horse and rider, way to go on it though. Heading out again in a few moments to work on my three plums still life. Doesnt have to much to do with reality but that is the direction Im heading. Got a start in today of my cityscape, and old photo I took I years ago and have always loved. The bad news: The Oklahoma Creativity Forum contacted me to say there was a tear in the canvas on "A Cat and her Horse" when they received it, but that it wasn't that detectible, so they will hang it and take a pic of it for the archives. The only time I think this could have happened was when that car crashed into on the way to deliver the painting!
I was reassured when she told me that it looked reparable.

I tore a painting once trying to get a canvas clip in place. I repaired it, but it was too big of a hole to really do any good.

Nancy, here is a thread (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119432&highlight=restoration+dress) in the hall of fame where jim termini describes how he fixed a tear and restored the painting.

Hi, Sid, I had been wondering where you were! Thanks for the link, but this is minimal damage and the painting is only ten months old. I had a tear happen a long time ago in a large painting that I had just finished. When it fell on the corner of a board, it tore through the very middle!:( It was an x-shaped tear, and I immediately turned it over and I applied cloth tape to the back. Then I retouched the front.
I had forgotten about the tear in it, since my sister had it for years. When she died, my nephew gave me the painting back, and it was then that I noticed the repair was still intact and the front still looked perfect!:D

We are not having many color changes in our trees here. It's probably during November that they'll suddenly turn, and two days later the wind will rip them off, so plein air painters have to be on their toes in Okie-land! It was 73F today, so I still haven't put on shoes. Which is hilarious when you dress up for a photo on top and are barefoot on bottom!

Sid, I've got Jen (Turpintine45) for the swap, and I'm giving her two options ... I think. The other one is more to Kevin's specifications, but I'll don't know which one I should use; here's the other one - a lot less formal, but still with the dramatic chiaroscuro.

Good morning, everyone.
Nancy, those are both fabulous photos, I love them. That is sad about the rip in your canvas, but I'm glad to hear that it will probably be okay. You've now made me optimistic about fixing these two ripped canvii I have. They haven't been painted on yet, but I was thinking I might give them up as a loss because of their holes. But they are not big holes, and both are otherwise nice canvii which I don't want to just toss out. I think I'll fix and use them after all. :D
There are places you can *buy* zebras, you know, and someday I really would like to have one. :D They ain't cheap, but who needs a car if you can have a zebra, right?

I am very sorry about your health issues, its grinding for you I know but you have your art, your family and your international buddies to turn to.:grouphug:
Hi Bjorn  .
Hi Marcia, sounds like you are going great guns with your open studios and shows and everything. Do your guitars sell well at these events?
I cant remember what else I was going to say, think I am coming down with a bit of a cold or something so an early night is called for I think.

Is it just me or does it really make no sense at all to "raise money to support anti-greed protests"?
I support protesting, and do much protesting my own self, so send the money to me ... since I am anti-greed except for my own self.

I have been sort of messing with what I might put on ebay if I could just get everything organized enough to do it...I am thinking of some of my older pieces, that don't necessarily need to see the dumpster yet, but I wouldn't put them on my website either....there is a lot of preparation to do it though.
And, I have office work and this portrait swap and a few other paintings inthe planning stages as well as everyday life to take up a lot of time right now.
Have had Jeni's portrait swap photo for about 24 hours now, and my panic has subsided, I can see such potential with this, she has amazing features and has set up a lovely shot...now if I can just execute my plan.
Nancy, how did the painting delivery go today? I bet you are anxious to see everything hung.:D You have a great season for your show...and I am looking forward to seeing the pics.
Carey, how was the pumpkin pie?

Boxes are always a hassle. The bathroom in my studio is packed full of them.
If you do a search for mirror boxes, it turns up some useful hits and the boxes don't seem too expensive.

http://www.uboxes.com/moving-boxes-picture.aspx?CategoryID=57

If there is a moving company in your area like Bekins, United Vanlines, UHaul, etc, you might be able to get boxes from them.

Marcia, thanks..I have ordered boxes in quantity before and they are very nice and the price is ok, but shipping charges were high...the fedex/ups store has a nice variety of boxes, it just isn't close. But if I go and buy an assortment, it kind of makes it worth the trip. I will save your links in case I have a problem with my plans.

Becca, Himself packed the car for me and I got all my paintings hauled over to the gallery yesterday. Then we had a long meeting - we have four new artists (four peeps didn't renew their contracts, so we needed them), and we have been switching jobs around. My job was Facebook, which I hate, but I managed to get rid of it and get the website job instead, which I love!
I still need to make some reproductions of some of my art on cards to be sold, so that is what I'm working on today, as well as figuring the home budget and paying bills.
Tomorrow's the big day, and I'm so wired I could chew through ten-penny nails! I need to pick up a bottle of wine today for the opening. We've ordered gladiolas for the flowers and everything is all set, except for my nerves!

How's your art doing, are you still keeping up the drawing practice?
I had to explain to a Scandinavian customer of ours what 'chinwag' was today. All the people I deal with speak such excellent English but I throw in colloquialisms now and then to challenge them. It means to chat a while if you need to know.

Hey I saw the comment you made about me on the portrait swap thread - you are right I did say I would never put my picture up. I decided that if I want to do portraits of other people maybe I ought to know what it feels like myself. I am not in the least bit comfortable about it really but am biting the bullet. The really good thing about this forum is because of doing the unmentionables swaps I realised that if I could do seven paintings, albeit small ones, one shouldnt be beyond me. Of course you havent seen mine yet and might all hate them but doing it has given me the confidence to be more 'out there' if you know what I mean.
So I thank you all .
