I like this a lot, not just because I'm a flautist. I like its clean and neat look, and the colours reflected from the metal.

That's wonderful Kathie. Apart from super work on the instrument, the wood is also excellently painted. Three guesses who is going to win a prize??!! Certainly would if I were on that jury. Good luck.

11-01-2011, 01:44 AM
Ian, THANK YOU very much!!:D
Elinor, Thank you!!
Chammi, aww Thank you very much, I do appreciate your support, I too wish you were on that jury!! we soon shall see. sometimes I wonder about some judges, what makes them tick.... they often choose art that looks like a child did it rather then something stunning.:crossfingers:

Thanks all!!

that is truly amazing !!!

I don't really exactly remember how your work looked 3-4 years ago but I think the stuff I saw then, was kind of "blurry" (not in a bad way).
I'm sorry to say that I often label artists abit and that I often interpert an artists skill and talent from what I've seen from them. (How else can you interpert their skill and so on? Hehe)
The reason that I label artists probably occurs beacuse it's so common for an artist to get satisfied with a motif preference like for instance landscapes or portraiture.
An artist that mainly have painted lanscaped will often don't dare to step in and try portraits for the fear of failing and journeying into uncharted waters.
Also one might get a feeling of taking a step back in skill just because you have problems with new main subjects (or what to call it) and I really feel like it's sad when that happens. Because it's taking a Huge step forward and broadening yourself as an artist. It's obvious that everyone have something that they like more or less to paint, but you cant put a price on new experiences.
I see myself as a very average artist compared to whats out there in the world, but I accept all commissionwork I get alsong as it's not offencive or anything like that.
I feel like doing a painting from a computergame for someone ( That I would never do by my own accord) I might get better painting metalglare from painting robots or learn porportions and so on that I later benefit from in the painting that is my "preferred" motif.

What I wanted to say was that I got so happy seeing this thread and getting my determined opinion totally busted!
Your work with the instruments making awesome detail, lighting and glares really made me happy. Since I love to see people trying new stuff.
And you are so much more skilled than I originally though!
Sorry for underestimeting you in my head several years ago! =P

I hope you just see this post as positive and I'm sorry for the long read.
And even though I said all this I think most of it's right and that most people form very colored conclusions.

You rock! Keep em commin'

This is lovely and so detailed! You've done am amazing series!

11-03-2011, 06:11 PM
Well now I feel abit stupid. =P
I just looked through your site and saw how broad of an artist you are.
And how skilled you are and have been for a long time.
Though I stand by my statement that you've gotten even more skilled and awesome than you already were the last two years.
I think I just had bad luck with timing when you posted 4 years ago and only saw blurryish style painted work.
Your animalpaintings from 2010-2011 (and about everything else) blew me away!

11-03-2011, 07:05 PM
aka, Thank you!!
Gayle, Thank you, very much!!
Mysjostrand, don't feel stupid, I appreciate what you were trying to say and understand. I am really flattered at your generous compliments on my artwork here and those done in the past!! I have learned alot with each painting and Keep trying new things, as I dont Know if I can do it unless I try, so why not try!! I do love painting animals, especially fur and Details on anything, as you have already notice. THANK YOU so very much!! I am deeply grateful!
