View Full Version : Plein Aire at the Farmstand-x post Plein Aire

Hi Everyone!

I have been plein aire painting with a group known as P.A.L.S.,(Plein Aire Limer Society) for over a year now. We go out every Tuesday to a designated location and paint away! It's wonderful! Everyone in the group is so supportive of each other, I have learned tons!!!

Today and last Tuesday we painted a local farm stand in Moriches, Long Island,NY. I feel that I have been progressing with each piece I do, the pumpkins were last week, the flowers today. Today I painted the scene from inside the farmstand looking out. It's hard from the photo to make out the darker edges on either side of the painting. I had just enough time to paint my fellow PALS member as she was painting.

Hope everyone likes it. C7C's are always welcome!

:) Very very nice , Marlene! And nice to see. Keep it up, you are coming on strong even with figures in your plein-air work!! These are very nice paintings.

It must be nice to have a group to paint with. Both of these are very well done and my hat is off to you for keeping up with it for over a year.

Nice paintings Marlene- I like how you captured another artist in the second painting, the bright flower colors, and sense of light. Like the pumpkins in the first one too.

I've been attending weekly portrait sessions- it is a great experience to paint with other artists, especially when it's roughly the same group each week (we get drop-ins, but there is a core group). That's great that you've kept up regularly with the PALS group.

Do you ever go back and look at your paintings from a year ago? It is sometimes fun to look back.

These are beautiful Marlene, I especially like the last one. Great colors, and it's neat you were able to put the artist in, it adds interest.

Hi Barbara

I also have attended portrait sketch groups in the past, they were just as enlightening!!!

Oh yea, I have looked at many paintings I have done just last year and thought, "what was I thinking"!!!!!!

Marlene, wow! The pumpkins are good, but the scene with the flowers and your fellow artist is spectacular. That one's just perfect. The colors harmonize, the scene balances well, rendering is elegant, strokes are lively and values strong as colors. Well done! You are so lucky to go out with a plein air group every week, this is wonderful!

gosh, I am a bit confused............is the first photo bleached out, and the colours as per the Sezzan post (12)......or if the first photo correct, and the brilliant-colour pic colour-corrected?

Lovely work!

Thank you so much Sezzan and Robert! Thank you Sezzan for sharpening the 1st photo. Actually the more I look at the first sketch the more I see I have to darken the backgroud, (cool colors).

Hi Jackie

I believe Sezzan was showing me that a stronger background was in order.
