View Full Version : A Few of My Favorite Things...

Hello Painters! - I was going for a loose, colorful, carefree style with this painting. I love windows with shutters and window panes, my bicycle with basket, clothes lines and flowers. I received a 1st place on it in a recent show and the painting is sold. The funny thing is I did not care if anyone liked it or not -- just painted to please me. Perhaps we all need to do that more often? :wink2:

Thanks for looking - & I say paint what is in your heart!

Thank you Haptopaint! :) I forgot to post the dimensions - 24" x 12" on wrapped canvas. The composition is a compilation of various reference images - not from a real life location...

Thanks so much, Maureen - Like everyone else, it's been a crazy summer - road trips to visit my Mom & brother in Colorado - taking care of his livestock while he & his wife went to a rodeo - and family visiting here, too.

Thanks too, to Kathie, Latha, Chammi and Ken! Your kind words and encouragement are so appreciated!

No wonder it was collected.. this is a lovely painting showing quite an advanced sense of color composition.

What you said here is very important - "The funny thing is I did not care if anyone liked it or not -- just painted to please me." Even though most of our activities are goal driven, sometimes the thought of the end-result consumes us and this hampers our effort, affecting the quality of work. You painted from that spontaneous core within you, simply for the joy of painting... and look what you ended up with! :)

Thank you much Deb & Roy. I just received feedback from the buyer (she purchased it online) and she was very happy with it. That is always such a joy when they are pleased!
