Here's my almost (but not quite ) finished turtle. I followed this guy for 30 minutes. Have never seen such a voracious eater! He was gnawing on grasses nonstop. Almost every shot had him face down in the sand. lol.
This is 30" X 30". Acrylic on canvas. The last shot was taken outside and has a LOT of glare. I'll try to take a better photo because the colors are a bit off.
One hour.

Two hours. (blurry night shot.)

Four and 1/2 hours. Almost there. need to shine up the lights on the sand and fix his back side. Sorry about the glare!

Will probably get at least one more in. Either the boats or Collin. Check back!
Thanks for looking and playing with me this week.

Ouch. You just hurt my feeling by posting such a beautiful rendition of the turtle. I am going to delete my thread. Li, it is wonderful. I really like seeing your progressive pics, it helps me to see the process.

Li this is wonderful - you seemed to have captured him in all that foliage, giving one sense of great depths to the water!

Here's the finish. The graases really didn't take that long because they are just slapped on brush strokes.:D

Thank you all for the generous comments. Guilli- I was snorkeling so not that deep. I was actually grabbing onto the turtlegrass ( it's actual name) so I wouldn't float up while taking the pictures. We're only about 6-7 feet under here.
Started the canoes but prob. won't finish before Lin posts the next WDE. We'll see. Thanks!

He's really beautiful (RIL and the painting) and I saved him for later. His attitude is because he thought you were taking his grass??
