IdeaPaint Dry Erase Paint
Why be limited to a white board when any surface can become a dry erasable surface? The inventors of IdeaPaint felt the same, and we second that, with their innovative paint that allows virtually any surface to become a dry erase writing surface. Why paint? Because it opens up inspiration for creativity when you can grab a dry erase marker and start writing without limitations. We’ve found IdeaPaint performs best on a clean, smooth surface. Problems may occur when the paint isn’t allowed to cure thoroughly or applied on a textured surface.

It’s best to follow instructions. Here’s how:
1. IdeaPaint must be installed and maintained at temperatures above 60F.
2. Prep: Clean off surface before installation. Mask off any areas to prevent any unintended coating. If necessary, use 120 grit sandpaper to smooth surface, as the IdeaPaint will only be as smooth as the surface it’s applied to.
3. Prime: Prime surface with a PVA (waterbased) primer such as KILZ 2, KILZ Premium or GILLDEN Gripper Primer. Prime until walls are well coated, usually about 2 coats. Let dry according to manufacturing instructions.
4. Sand: After primer dries (at least 1 hour) sand surface down with 120 grit sand paper, wipe with a clean, dry cloth.
5. Ventilate: Keep area free from traffic flow until cured, as the IdeaPaint has a strong odor.
It is recommended to use a HVAC system to exhaust the fumes.
6. Mix: Mix the full contents of the THIS and THAT cans into a paint bucket and stir thoroughly for
at least 2 minutes. Once paint is mixed, it has a 1 Hour open time to apply. NOTE: do not mix more than 2 kits at one time.
7. Apply: Apply paint using the enclosed roller only. Only one coat is necessary.
NOTE: for edging use Whizz or Rollerfoam brand for rollers. Paint edging as you go.
Saturate the roller and apply liberally. Work in 2x3 foot sections at a time. Use the provided wet
film gauge to make sure the film is between 4 and 5 mils. It is recommended to leave masking tape on
edges until IDEAPAINT is fully dry. It may be necessary to score edges for removal.
8. Wait: Wait 7 days for paint to cure before use. A “Wet Paint” sign is provided with an area to fill in the date. If the room temperature is between 50 and 60F, curing can take up to 28 days.
9. Write: For best performance, use Expo regular markers (21325-xxxx) versus a low odor marker, as
low odor inks may cause ghosting.
10. Cleaning: Daily erasing and cleaning is recommended with a dry eraser, such as the Expo dry eraser (22844-1010), dry cotton cloth, or a micro-fiber towel. Make sure to use clean erasers. Periodically, for a more thorough cleaning, use Expo Dry Erase Cleaner or Cleansing Wipes (22130) or a clean, damp cloth.
