View Full Version : Doing OK
We have been without power since last Sat. and no internet. 8 inches of water in the basement, lost 3 trees and it took four days to get a generator. The power and internet just came back . No water; just our pool to jump in and stay clean. Ahhhhhh my studio has light and I can't wait to get back to my acrylics. I miss WC. You guys are the "Best".
Derek;      Goodnight "IRENE".
Here is one of the trees; a thirty foot Ash.

Oh man, doing without electricity is the worst ! We had storm damage about 5 yrs ago and were without electricity for 5 days. It doesnt seem like such a long time unless youre the one going through it. We finally got a room at a local motel. You dont realize how much it means till its gone, lol. Glad you got it back on.

Derek, glad you're back in business as far as some things go! I hope the water won't be too rough to clean out of your basement! Glad you guys are safe! :)

Just glad you're safe, that's the most important bit! - sad about the trees and damage - and all the work to get back to normal ...... so do we need to stay upwind of you?

We went through many hurricanes in NC, with losses that seemed almost insurmountable. Glad you and yours are safe. Tomorrow will be a better day. Best of luck cleaning up and moving on.
Thanks so much my good friends:heart:

Dcam very happy your electric on, what a mess huh, we had flooding too and our electric was off but only for 7 hours, phones weren't working either for a few days, happy to hear you were safe tho, inconvenienced for sure but safe.
Sight of that big gorgeous tree uprooted is sad least doesn't look like it took anything with it which is always good. We escaped that part.
Now go have fun in your studio.
I'm on my way Elaine: As soon as I dry up the stinky wet basement
Sorry to hear of the clean up mess. But glad to hear you are okay.

So sorry to hear about all this damage, Derek. The 8 inches of water in your basement and having to go without electricity sounds just awful. I hope the clean-up isn't too difficult. At least your spirits sound high. Best of luck.

We got off really lightly, all in all. I was expecting more damage but there was only one limb down in our community with lots of twigs and leaves. Our electric is underground and that is probably why we fared so well.
Carol: all electric should be underground. We are living in the past with these telephone poles.

Derek, I am so glad that you are safe. What a very unpleasant and scary time you must have had. I do hope you will soon have water again. Glad that the studio now has light and your are back on line. Happy painting , my friend and looking forward to your next posting. Hug.
Thanks so much Chammi: very kind of you.

Oh nooo Derek! I'm so sorry to read this. I'm glad you all are safe and at least have the electricity back. Can't imagine what you must be going through without running water :(
Hi Roy: The water is back on and the power.....what a blessing!
Thanks for thinking of me. :)

I tried to get to work today. The Schuylkill is closed because of a rock fall at my end and then a mud slide down towards Philly. Then many of the other main arteries into Philly are closed because of flooding. I gave up after 2 h of driving around trying to avoid closed roads, etc. So I am at home and very frustrated as I have a grant to write and I have not managed to get remote desktop to work :(
Sorry Carol; Hope things get better. :(
