View Full Version : Leafy Sea Dragon

Ok well, inspired by the leafy sea dragon. It's a composite (I think) of the wonderful Australian Leafy and the benevolent Chinese Dragon of myth and legend. Cropped so there wouldn't be an obvious front, back, up, down.

Just another of my weird experiments. 12x10, what started to be Colourfix Suede, but turned into my own gesso/marble dust mixture. Terry Ludwig, Girault and Diane Townsend Terrage pastels.
C&C welcome. Chuas

Very interesting experiment, Chuas. I love how it flows. Nice combination of blues.

Did you paint this on a black bg or did you paint it with TLDarks? I love the way the blue sings against the dark. I like its organic abstract look. Keep on experimenting!!

Thanks Tula, Doug and Jen! No TL darks! They're Diane Townsend darks..it's actually a black red. These are the blackest darks I've ever seen, and usually I use a teeny tiny bit and then blend the heck out of it!

I don't know about these experiments....!

Neat colors Kris. I love the background, and the design is great. I say keep experimenting, you're turning out some really nice work!

My vote is also for you to keep on experimenting. This is a striking painting. But, then, I like your "supermarket" series, too.

Hey there you are really going abstract with this one. I see the threads are underwater these days... jelly fish... you must be enjoying the aquarium.

Amazing colors and details and delicate features!!! :) Barb
