Sandra, for an observant artist, all it takes is practice, practice, practice! And "bone" up on anatomy, too. Life drawing is "timed" drawing, and to excel at it, draw people from life as often as you can. Nudes don't show up often, but clothed people in crowds, restaurants, lobbies, airports, wherever, are all potential subjects. Just forget about trying to make each one a masterpiece and tell yourself you're just a student. Relax...
I tell myself I'm just a student every time I do any art, I'm old, and I've been a student since I could hold a pencil! :o I'm going back to my Life Drawing sessions starting next week. Since it's not a class, and there are many very accomplished artists there, it's always a pleasure no matter what I do, since I can look around at the others' work and see how much better I could get. also I want to have access to the models in case I need them for doing plein air life paintings like the Cape Cod school did.
I just met my friend for lunch and we spent some time looking at art, then we went and got some 4"x4" gallery wrap canvii that we want for small works.
We're getting what some might call rain here; it's an occasional droplet or two a minute (unless one forgets one's umbrella). The state fair opened today, so that brought the rain of course. Such as it is...
Becca, I really like the horse with the cowboy on it with him leading another horse! If I were painting it, I'd make it a paint, and other a grey, and would call it, "I ride an old paint..."
If you're going to accept the commission, ask the guy to pose like that.:) Or is that the guy who wants a painting?:D
Rolina, and Jessica, I am so glaaaaad I don't have to go to work anymore!
Carey, your torrit gray painting sounds like you're really doing a great job -- I'm so eager to see it!
Okay, now I need to get back to work on my rhodies-- I want a nice group of paintings for my featured artist show in November.:)

Nancy, I still need to get the pic the guy wants painted, him and his team pulling a wagon..they are beautiful horses. That is the primary reason I am going back in the morning...and I guess for me too.
I have a favorite shot from each of the two days I have gone out...but there are many others I just like so much.

Thanks, Sandra. It is beautiful and rugged where they are driving the cattle...I am going back when I can and paint plein air.:D And, I really have a few awesome cowboy shots.
I was going to say about how we see our art...I have a love/hate thing going on with a lot of my stuff...I love some things about it and wish other things were different. Depending on the day, i feel more one way or the other about it.

yep i know Becc:heart: , the thing is , iM more about that in my drawing than in Painting , I seem to beable to paint mostly what ever I put my mind to ... with Ld its so hard to capture that feeling but then you say I have grace in my drawing so I must be getting something down , I hope:crossfingers: ... its a strong thing for me and I feel very deep about showing emotions in my work ... yeah babble I know ~sorry for the rant ...:)

Becca, I guess I'm in one of those slumps where you think of every excuse you can for NOT painting, and I desperately need to paint! I may start another painting (that I've already drawn on a canvas) instead of finishing the Rhodies one!
Anyway, I thought I would waste some more time playing in Photoshop with your cattle drive since I had this idea. Instead of having that particular cowboy on the right, you could put in a different one, and use him to replace the truck? Or put a chuckwagon from that viewpoint instead of the truck?

Not that I NEED excuses to waste time! Stephen Pressfield, in his book "The War of Art," calls it "resistance," and he's right. I wrote about this book on my blog on my website, and just recently, one of the FASO newsletters reminded me of it.
It happens to everyone who creates; not just artists!

Carey, thank you! If I ever manage to sort them all, i may put some in the image library, but that could take some time.
Sid, sounds like that little new baby is already tiring out grandpa.:D And, those are cute kitties.:cat:
Nancy, thanks for your adobe help! I will work with them, as I have several and will come up with some solution. These will all be a challenge in some way to me.:)

I am a little worn too. All this cow and cowboy chasing has tired me a lot, trying to fit it into days that are too short already. I am kind of glad tomorrow morning will be the last of it.

I'm a little frustrated here. I can't get exactly the right color for my sky reflection tones on the pale pink rhodies. I tried mixing Radiant magenta with Radiant lavender and it turns out too cool. So I mixed Dioxazine purple with Rose Madder Quinacridone, with a lot of white. I ended up adding a touch of Perylene red to it and it was a little better, but I'm beginning to think I need a warmer purple. Vasari is having what they call a sale on their reds and violets, so I took a look. Their Cobalt Violet is still too expensive. Either I need some more pinks or I need a warm purple.
What Cobalt Violet brand do you buy, Becca?:)
Gosh, it's already midnight and I haven't paid the latest bills.:( Lucky I have a grandmother clock or I wouldn't notice at all. I'll check back and see what you recommend in the morning! Goodnight, and sorry I haven't been around much today!

Did you get more pictures, Becca?
You still have my sympathies, Jessica, it must be hard on you as a mother, too.
I have so much to do I am beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed. I have to prepare for my visitors next weekend including some large pot meals to cook, so that I don't spend the whole time in the kitchen, sorting out beds/bedding, cleaning (whatever that is, lol), a paper to write (argh) and work is so busy too.
But a good bulk of tomorrow WILL be for painting, I swear!
!becca
09-16-2011, 12:59 PM
Rolina, I think I have about 100 pictures from today, I haven't uploaded them yet.

I am so glad you got all those photos - I must say, those longhorns are gorgeous creatures!
I am laughing with incredulity - I have 3 lightbulbs to replace (always the same in autumn, start switching lights on and many blow) and several spares in my cupboard, yet not one, not ONE is the right fitting, argh! Another job for the list, lol!

I haven't been shopping yet; we had a downpour here today! I have Michael's and Hobby Lobby right down the street, and it's generally cheaper (and I have it immediately:D!) with no shipping cost.
I'm making a grocery list and I'll go out when it tapers off. If I get time I'll go paint shopping! I think I need a Magenta; can't believe I have 23 reds and no magenta except the radiant one, which is not saturated enough to do a good mix!

Paul, thanks!:D I didn't think of the online one and I had already used the one that comes with my Sunday newspaper. I just printed it. Now I'll see if I can find a Michael's' one, too.
Speaking of The Oklahoman, my last employer, I just read in today's paper, after three generations of Gaylord ownership, it's being sold to Denver businessman Philip Anschutz! That's where my pension comes from every month!
That is one fantastic sale... The original E.K. Gaylord in 1903 was, most likely, the only one really interested in publishing a newspaper. His son, E.J., left the publishing business to his employees while he acquired the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado, a good portion of Nashville, TN, including the Grand Old Opry, and businesses in Dallas and Little Rock. his daughter, in turn, brought the paper into the electronic age.
This news must not mean much to you all, but it was a big part of my whole life. I grew up wanting to work for this newspaper, and finally, after returning from Washington, D.C., started with them!:D
That's going to be a heck of lot of money changing hands!
Sorry for rattling on; it just excited me -- and I'm still trying to figure out whether it's negative or positive excitement!:o

Sorry I'm a bit short at the moment, but I have some happy news! I didn't mention previously because I was so sad and didn't want to think about it, but Tendo had gone missing about a week ago. It was very strange because I've never known him to go outside voluntarily...I rather just thought he'd gone into the woods to, well, you know. :( But today we were out in the water with the dogs and we saw Tendo up by the house...I suppose he came out since we he heard we were out (and the dogs were occupied). He's definitely thinner than he was, but seems okay otherwise.

Tendo is the cat we rescued this spring. He is elderly with a lot of arthritis. He seems to be very happy this evening to be amongst us again. (He isn't even hiding in the closet, which is his usual hangout.)

Tomorrow is Spirit Day! I was thinking I would be painting on my Torrit gray, I really want to, but I was just studying it and think it could do with some drying time as I've really been wishy washy with the values in some areas and need to go in and lighten them up a bunch. I *could* do it tomorrow, but it would be much easier if it dries. So it will have to be an alternate-material day of some sort.

Carey, those are such fun photos.:D I love the light on your petunia.
All this new reference material has thrown me off a little. I did have some order in my mind of the upcoming paintings I wanted to do, now I am tempted to try a cowboy painting or two first. Carey, those morning glories are gorgeous...or is that what they are with that beautiful purple?
I left messages on each one of the cat pix with haiku that say: "Please give credit to the original author. These haikus were written by Robin Kriss Rhea, and published in Brow Beat, the newsletter of Broward Mensa in May 2001."
I can only hope they post it on each one...it's just as shameful to not give an author credit as it is not to give an artist credit.
If there are no others, here are the rest of the Cat Haiku, that was printed in that newsletter, and I think Robin Kriss Rhea has a book of them out now; it might be fun to look for it on Alibris!
I need a new toy.
Tail of a black dog keeps good time.
Pounce! Good dog! Good dog!
The rule for today.
Touch my tail, I shred your hand.
New rule tomorrow.
In deep sleep hear sound
Cat vomit hairball somewhere.
Will find in morning.
You're always typing.
Well, let's see you ignore me
Sitting on your hands.
Kitty likes plastic
Confuses with litter box
Don't leave tarp around.
Small brave carnivores
Kill pine cones and mosquitoes
Fear vacuum cleaner.
Want to trim my claws?
Don't even think about it!
My yelps wake the dead.
I want to be close
To you. Can I fit my head
Inside your armpit?
Wanna go outside.
Oh, no! help! I got outside!
Let me back inside!
Oh not! My Big One
Has been trapped by newspaper.
Cat to the rescue.
Cats meow out of angst
"Thumbs! If we only had thumbs!
We could break so much."
Litter box not here
You moved it on me again
I'll crap in the sink.
The Big Ones snore now
Every room is dark and cold
Time for "Cup Hockey."
We're almost equals
I purr to show I love you
Want to smell my butt?
I loved your little sketch, and it reminded me so much of one I saw in this month's Plein Air Magazine and fell in love with! Wasn't something as superb as your drawing worth staying up late for?:D

Nancy, so sorry, i am still sorting out cowboy pics and deciding on crops and canvas sizes...so much to think about here...and wondering if I should try to catch them tomorrow for possible portrait shots. Mixed feelings about it, because people tend to get such a posed look for them. I don't mind posed looks, but too often they assume one that isn't what I had in mind.:) I won't paint one for spirit day, need more time to prepare and I have one on my easel ready to paint. The two I most want to do will be sizable and I need some warmup, haven't painted much for a while.
Good luck with your idea to do a horse plein air. As challenge to be sure. And, you might like to know Sorolla did a few..(which I can't upload because the uploader is acting up again.):(
Have had Sandra on my mind too...I do hope all goes well for her. :grouphug: Sandra, sending you good vibes.

Its good to see Wet Canvas is working again, and nice to see you are bearing up Sandra. It sounds like a ghastly proceedure but when you said you might not be able to go to school I thought you were going to be out of action for ages so its good to hear that school is back on. I'll be thinking of you. Oh, and you need to drink Guinness, good for iron apparently and nice too.
I have been so stupidly busy and tired lately I literally forgot to go to my life drawing class when it started up again last Tuesday - thats a really bad sign because its THE most favourite part of my life at the moment, and pre-paid!
It looks like there have been some wonderful portaits of Sandra completed recently, and I love that cat painting Carey, a very impressive watercolour.
It feels properly autumnal here now, chilly in the evening and the light disappearing too early.
I did paint yesterday for spirit day but cant show as its last minute finishing off tweaks on the swap paintings, I need to stop looking at them really but I am worried about them - Are they good enough? Could I have done better? Should I redo a couple? Why didnt I do this, or that? You know the sort of thing? Anyway I shall try to chill, much contemplation went into this project and its too late now.
So have a good Sunday whatever you are doing folks.

I am just so un-hip I need a translator in the modern world sometimes. Wet Canvas is such a powerful and important site I cannot believe there is only one computer geek - I am sure if anything terminal (that could be a computer joke) happened there would be a lot of bereft artists out there. Becca, I am so pleased you had some rain, but .7" doesnt sound like it would go far. I went back a few pages and saw your cattle driving photos, what an inspiring collection of ref pics you must have. I would allow yourself to do them before other things whilst the memories of it all are still fresh in your mind, I am sure it will come out in your paintings.
Rolina, I love your latest landscape, saw it on the Spirit Day thread you really seem to be on to a good thing with them and I predict great success and wealth in your future :). You sound a bit like me time wise, hope it eases soon.
Elsie (grandaughter) aged 2 did her first oil painting today. Under close supervision I actually let her use my stuff - I may live to regret that although I am going to treasure the painting. I have started brainwashing her early, bought a book called 13 paintings children should know which covers various famous paintings from the Mona Lise to Pollock. I am not sure how old is old enough for her first gallery visit..........might have to leave that a bit longer.

Thanks Tina, I am so enjoying doing these paintings and have more ideas than time!
I think introducing kids to art early on is a great idea - it is hard to believe how many people reach adulthood feeling they aren't welcome in a gallery.
I suggest making a game of it, like hunt the lady in the red dress, or how many deer can you count etc.
TinaC

I like those ideas for gallery games, Elsie is like a little sponge and I am sure we will have lots of art fun together in the years to come. I am a bit sad that most of the people who are as mad about art as I am are online rather than in the flesh art buddies so I am growing my own now! I wasnt particulalry into art when my kids were young, that was my machine knitting phase more's the pity.

Tina,:D my cat Glory should be taught to paint, too. Now she is no longer satisfied to sit on the back of my chair when I paint; she has to get in my lap!* The video I saw of a cat painting would be a real disaster here -- I would have to catch her the instant she quit so I could clean up her paws before they touched the floors...or the carpeting!!
*That might account for why my paintings are getting that painterly looseness. Can't get any detail while she's grooming herself in my lap!

:clap:Carey, that is such a vibrant watercolor! I would frame it and hang it up in a New York minute! I have a book around here somewhere by a watercolorist who says that watercolor is forgiving. And that you can mess with it and not be afraid to have fun, even when you think you've not got it right. Believe me, you have got it right!:D

Now I'm getting depressed:(...today I was shocked to read that the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (aka Cowboy Hall of Fame to us locals) is auctioning off three paintings from its collection by Nicolai Fechin! They are all ones I've never seen, and I tried three things to try to see it. First I tried to access my online newspaper to at least download the two paintings shown with the article --- and was denied! I'll call them tomorrow and find out what's wrong with my password!
Then I noticed that the caption under the photos said PHOTO PROVIDED, which meant nobody has access to them! Lastly I looked at all my Fechin websites, and then tried the back way into the Cowboy Hall by asking to see each painting on their website.
No deal. I think they're keeping them under wraps until someone with a few million extra bucks asks to see them. And they don't care whether it's another museum or an individual! Ideally, they would like to see the Russians buy them, because they were painted while he still lived in Russia. That's why they're selling them, because all the ones in the museum at the Fechin niche, where I've sat and studied his amazing work often, are western subjects.
If anyone happens to have access to these images, the three are "Bearing Away the Bride," "Peasant Girl," and "Temple Dancer."

How are you coming on your show paintings?
I know how you feel, Becca! With the show, I keep wanting to lock myself away and just paint, too. I know I'll have enough time to finish the rhodies. But since I don't have a really huge space for my exhibit, I really have enough already (but don't tell the gallery!:wink2:)... And I'll be away for three or four days this weekend and next week!
Lucky for me, my favorite framing place, Pirate's Alley, is having a sale for the next two weeks!:)

NancyMP
09-19-2011, 12:49 AM
I sort of have a plan for the space, and I can fit a large 40"x40" painting in, along with the two 16x18s (Sandra, and the rhodies), four, or six, 12x12 gallery wraps, and two more 24x36 ones. I think. I'm going to plot it on graph paper so that there is enough space between paintings; I don't want it to look crowded.
It will also depend on the hanging committee; if I get the space too crowded, they'll just store the extra and ask me to take it home! I trust them, they all have excellent taste.
Becca, when is your next show scheduled?:)
!becca
09-19-2011, 12:55 AM
Nancy, great idea to plan your exhibit...and to have extras. My exhibits allowed for more paintings than I had expected a couple of times when I thought I have spares.
Right now, I don't have a show lined up. I have just had such a long run of them. My intentions are to paint for competitions for a while and build up a fresh inventory for something that may come up. As I begin to have a supply I may send out a few portfolios to see if there is a chance of a new show.
I really just need the time to practice.:)

I'm wondering if the people seeing it would think I'm from Massachusetts rather than Oklahoma, though. This is the light at Eastern Point in Gloucester, enhanced by artist. Hi Bjorn  - Scandinavians are some of my favourite people.
Nancy, more power to your elbow on the Fechin hunt, they should not be allowed to get away with hiding importants works. That painting of yours conjures up pure happiness. No wonder you wanted that job :) .
Becca I am so pleased for you finally having pleasantly mild weather, enjoy every minute. I have no idea what your winters are like but am praying its a moderate one for you this year - you have had enough rubbish weather for a lifetime I think.
Rolina, so you are/were a machine knitter too eh? I still have mine and a whole shedload of yarn, I got started within 6 months of my daughter Laurens birth as I had to have some kind of creative outlet at the time. I've not used the equipment for years but its worth nothing on the secondhand market so I refuse to get rid, one day I may take it up again. Mine is a standard guage Electronic Silver Reed, I wonder if there are many knitters around these days.
My son Jordan is visiting my Dad in Delaware USA next month and I am wondering if there are any exclusive USA only art products I should get him to pick up for me. I collected a fair bit when I used to visit often, Generals charcoal pencils for one.....I'll have to check out the Dick Blicks, Michaels etc methinks....
I am going to get serious and try and take the next art step soon, I think that means to be less schizophrenic and start to build up a body of work that looks like it was done by one person:lol:
I should be working........but its been a long week....oh, it only Monday.......back to the grindstone then.
See ya'll later.

Yes Tina, I had a double bed punchcard Brother and loved it - I used it for several years up until I learned to spin and thorougly loved the design part. I used to make and sell kids intarsia (picture) sweaters when they were all the craze (80s).
I learned to spin because I wanted pure wool and posh yarns like alpaca etc which were so expensive. I used to handknit (with a group of other spinners) those large oversized mohair cardigans that were handspun, hand-dyed for what really was a pittance when you consider the woman hours even though they were very expensive.
Then it all slowed down as I enjoyed the process so much and besides no-one in my family wore proper wool sweaters any more, prefering the new sweatshirts/fleeces, so now I only make small items like socks, mittens, hats and scarves.
I sold the machines (OK, I had another very old Knitmaster too) a few years ago and now just have a simple Bond which I use to make sock blanks for dyeing.
Was that too much information? Sorry, wool is another passion of mine. Hmmm, come to think of it, it is time to think of my next winter project...
Björn, yes Katia came here, but it wasn't too severe and didn't cause too much damage here on the East coast. How was it in Sweden?

Rolina, I used to knit back then, too, by hand. My mother taught me to crochet, and in turn I taught her to knit. She did better than I did right off the bat. I have a tendency to establish a correct gauge, but then as I knit my stitches tighten up.
I gave it up when I moved back to Oklahoma, since the only time it gets cold enough for wool garments here is just a few days in January-February.

Rolina, my mother crocheted a beautiful shawl for me of soft white yarn with gold strands spun into it. It was too dressy for most occasions, but I wore it to a Christmas party to keep my bare shoulders warm. I left it at our table when I got up to dance, and it was stolen!
I'm so glad Mother didn't ask me about it again!
ArtyRolina
09-19-2011, 02:27 PM
Oh, what a shame, Nancy, how heartbreaking for you :(
I don't make many, it takes about 3 months to spin the yarn (every minute of my spare time) and then at least a month to crochet the item. I have others made from commercial lace yarn and in my own design which are quicker to make but don't feel quite so special.
I work in a very cold office in the winter and being able to slip one on over my clothes is a comfort and a help. I also like them for reading in bed at night. Shawls also make pretty scarves. I am a shawl addict, lol!
Remembering how cold the office gets, I must get a pair of fingerless mitts made before the end of the month.

 Tina, thank you! You might ask Jordan to go to NYC and visit the Vasari oil paint shop in Manhattan! They will mail, too, but there's nothing like visiting that shop; it is a treat because they allow you to play with the paint and mix it! They're having a sale on reds and violets this fall. Here's the link (http://www.shopvasaricolors.com/) for their website.:D
I have already picked up on the Vasari thing here and I must say I am very intrigued by the thought of these upmarket paints. I use water miscibles at the moment but one day I will try them, maybe when I learn to paint properly. In the meantime I am afraid my darling boy is unlikely to go shopping for me, anything I want I will have to get shipped to my Dads, Jordan will just be the courier. I used to like Canson products, you dont get them all here, and Generals stuff, just racking my brains to think of anything else you cant get easily or cheaply here.
Becca part of me would love to be going and doing my own shopping but the last time I was in there was when my Mum died last year and I dont actually think I could step foot in Delaware again. My Dad is there by his own choice, Mum wanted to come back to the UK and he didnt, so I dont feel too obliged and he and Jordan will play golf and do man stuff together.
Rolina, definately not too much information, its a great trip down memory lane for me. I started doing intarsia jumpers for kids, designed my own very quickly and then expanded to all sorts. I used to make my own buttons out of Fimo, dinosaur eggs and all sorts of kiddyfied designs which I sold. I used to do party plan and it was the era of drop shoulder baggy jumpers too which were basically just squares with shoulder pads added and I made a whole range of my own styles. I got to the point where I could knock them out fairly quickly but would never get rich doing it. It kept me sane for a few years though. I used two threads of soft cotton for most of the designs but prefered the higher end yarns and more special designs in the end, silks, merino wool, fine mohair...........one day I may revisit and just make things for myself and close family. I too will have to retire first though, and at the rate I am going that will be when I am about 90!
Your shawls look wonderful and highly skilled. I think these crafts will come back, thats one good thing about a recession. I hope so anyway coz most youngsters dont cook, sew, knit or anything and its a bit of a shame.

I should paint tonight. I just need some motivation....
Jess, here's motivation: last evening I looked at my windows facing west, and saw the sunlight streaming in over the couch and the drapes ...and caressing the contours of them... It was a really brief time, like 15 minutes, and I would have had to break out my other easel quickly.
No camera can capture this look; the exposure setting would wash out all the detail. Only the human eye, brain and heart can do this.
Tonight I'm preparing for my indoor plein air painting! You can do it, too!

Sandra, hang in there. You have so many people thinking of you and cheering you on all around the world, how cool is that? I am sure all your family are rallying round too, stay brave and you will get through this. Your Ozzie heart has a huge capacity for love and joy and the doctors will fix it. Its a rubbish card you have been dealt but try and stay positive, we need your sunshine back here ASAP. OK? Hugs and kisses.

It is a pity. My daughter is a wonderful cook, and sews. She also home-schooled her children until they were older and went to public school. I don't know if her daughters will follow her example. Right now they just watch tv and sit at the computer for hours on end. Even the boys do, too. And in those beautiful summer days! I have a hard time imagining how they would survive tough times.

:DHey, Bjorn, we needed a Swedish body-builder here. Maybe you could take over for Arnold, the Austrian one? I think that is the sweetest thing I've ever heard you say, and Sandra really deserves it with what she's going through!:)

Its a bit of a slippery slope Nancy, the governments are trying to get the next generation to eat healthily but young parents often dont know how to cook never mind about passing it on. My DIL can put frozen food in the oven and thats about it, not a great example to her kids. She's a nurse and a fabulous mother in every other way but she isnt unusual on the cooking front. Sewing and knitting are kind of lost arts, I learned to sew because it was the only way I could have nice clothes when I was young but clothes are so throwaway now. I hope some of these things get reinvented as leisure activities that appeal to the young again. I agree, kids need to get away from electronics at least some of the time.

nancy im still decently young 30.5 so not had so much suffer and i hope i will not need to tackle so bad stuff , lol about arnold i dont want to be like him i think he failed in his governing of the state aswell but i dont know really in depth. I think bodybuilders looks kinda yuck they lost the beauty of the body. and btw to cook food is really funny. but for sewing im kinda lost that was the doctor who "repaired" my finger after i sliced through halfway was pulling the strings abit to hard :) now i will goto sleep take care now and excuse my gramar my writing is not so "poetic" and varried and i have not been so very active on this site so maybe i can suprise you some more time?

Night, Bjorn, you are full of surprises.:D
What I have always been surprised by in not a pleasant way is how low things made by womens hands are sold by at auction...crochet, knitting and at times quilts. Historic quilts are another thing. I always wanted to learn to tat..or at least really see the process, but never have.

It's 4:30pm here, and I just set up the background for all this light that will pour in when the earth turns just a bit more... and I added a cat. Sunlight has no business streaming through a window without a cat on the windowsill. I think I have the thin, turpsy darks in so that they'll be dry a little when the light comes!
I feel like I'm waiting on a Grand Opening!:)
All this talk, and the painting will likely be the pits, but I will love it and show it to y'all anyway!;)

It isn't just textiles...if you even look at our fine art charity auctions, most work sells very low, unless you look a the very accomplished artists.

Rolina. with the charity auctions it is different than the textiles though..at least it is venue to be recognized. I guess I wasn't thinking all the way through.

My indoor plein air - I actually got twenty very humbling minutes to mess with nature's beauty. First, I'll show you the pic from last night, which washes out detail with so much light,
http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/19-Sep-2011/203830-Pix_of_the_sunlight_001.jpg
and tonight after I finished what I could paint and decided to get paint all over my camera! I had to resort to knife painting to catch the purity of that light!
http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/19-Sep-2011/203830-Pix_of_the_sunlight_002.jpg
I'll take a pic of the painting and show you what I did after it dries a bit. I may, if it's another sunny day tomorrow, try to improve it then.

Nancy, yay for your indoor plein air! :D It looks great. What fun to get inspiration like that.
Rolina, that is really very impressive. I'm very amazed at the colors.
Becca, oh you are so right that it has been Monday.
Speaking of how sad it is that textile work does not sell...I also find it sad that I even don't bother to do such things as gifts because for all the time and effort put in, it's a risk that it will even be appreciated in the end. Of course, part of my reasoning is the time factor, but even so. I once had someone ask me if I was going to sell some of my crochet work...I just about choked, I thought, right, and make, what...a dollar an hour if I'm lucky?
Oh well, such is the nature of our economy and society at the moment. Mostly I just enjoy its meditative qualities.
