Here's an astronaut I did. I've soften the edeges of the varying stripes behind the fella and crops the image for posting. Uncroped its 20x32 - the area showing (the rest was just white) is about 12x18. Pretty happy with it for a fairly monochrome piece. Suggestions and critiques welcome as I hope to do more "space stuff" later. jti

andy - yes, the white is the paper. Actually I think this effect (on white) is not so hard (i.e. anyone can do it)- but I found by leaving the white to state itself here and only shadowing in obvious places with without making them too strong helps give the impression of being in the bright atmosphere of space.

This is an amazing photorealistic piece. I really like the few touches of color that enliven the monochromatic color scheme. The reflective surface of the helmet is hard in contrast to the softer folds of the astronaut's spacesuit, especially those in the sleeves.

Very strong painting. Look forward to seeing your series.

This is absolutely fabulous, but I think it would be better with a starfield background at the top and the blue arc of the Earth at the bottom. I find the stripes surrounding the figure a lttle incongruous.
