I had to make a painting that was meaningful for the person requesting it, and it had to include a lot of red, so I painted 'Fortitude'. It's one of the major arcana in a tarot deck, but I've simplified it a lot. Instead of a woman opening the lion's mouth, she is staring directly at it.

Forgot to say, - the reason why I simplified it was becuase I had around 5 - 6 days to paint it before flying to Poland with it in my suitcase!

I don't know much about tarot cards, but I do know I really am attracted to this painting. It is exciting and the stares , as has been said, are PERFECT.

Very clever, very clever indeed.

Tarot is a little too out there for me but aside from that, this is very appealing.

I am really amazed at how well you have their expressions matching. It is like the Lion and Woman have reached an understanding and are thinking the same thing. Great job, thanks for sharing.

Very creative and the expressions are excellent. Like the use of colour. Nice work on the fur, by the way.

I love your lion, my hubby is a Leo so one day when a lion muse comes myway I will paint him the picture he would love.

You lion is wonderful! Truely! You can feel the forititude!

Thanks guys. Billycourty - I'm a Leo too ;) I enjoyed painting it, and it made me think I should do one with a wolf (although this wouldn't have anything to with Tarot).

It was made for someone who was going through a tough phase of their life and had to make some hard changes. It was well recieved

I would have liked to spend more time on it, but all in all I really enjoyed painting this. It reminded me how great acrylics are (and how fun & fiddly gold leaf is).

Beauty and a Beast, but which is which..
The stare says it all.
