Hi
I was hoping for some feedback and maybe some advice on my very first oil painting. I quite enjoyed this ... I have a lot of digital art experience but I thought I would delve into the realm of traditional art. Obviously I have drawn and painted with pencil, charcoal and acrylics but this was my first time with oil so I was winging it most of the time :)
Here is a progress shot of it I think its finished now I'm not sure :)
Please let me know what you think.

Very nice, obviously your talent in other media transferred very well to oil :)

I can see vertical lines, are they from the gesso or the picture itself ?

Thank you the lines are from the bit of wood I painted it on that I found in the garage :)

This is lovely! I had to take a look at the one you used as an avatar, too. It is such a beauty, and the water is perfect!

This is really nice, but my favorite is your first image. That underpainting could stand on it's own as a finished painting.

This work is excellent, in terms of proportions and spontaneity of the features; with time and practice, you will want to enter the fantastic world of color!

Randy beat me to it. The first one was a keeper. You have a facility with oils that some take a lot of time to acquire. Study the first image. It is directly painted, bold and compelling in its simplicity. The eyelashes in the following images distract.

I like the third image the best, just a step before your finished piece. It's raw, reminds me of the Bollywood style movie posters from India. Don't make your work too perfect, take it too the wild side.

It is fabulous - you have a great way with oils and portraits, obviously. I hope you continue!
