The week long watercolour symposium was held in Ottawa but organized by the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour whose home base is located in Toronto, but whose President, Katherine Zarull, lives in Ottawa.
I'm sure Ellen will be along later to describe the events.
It was also the week of the Ottawa Watercolour Societies Juried Watercolour Exhibition and with extremely fortunate timing, the Soc. canadienne de l'Aquarelle mounted a huge show at probably the only place in town that could host it...the Shenkman Arts center.

Waiting for the paintings.

So, now all we have to do is hang them.....

The hangers consist of a thin nylon cord about the diameter of regular string and accepts metal clips that are adjustable. As you can see by the ladies stance, they are practically invisible.

All the clasps came in separate plastic bags.....we used 200 of them!

Eine fantastische Veranstaltung Brian!
So etwas wäre in Deutschland unmöglich.
Gibt es davon noch mehr zu sehen?

Ernst, why do you think something like this would be impossible in Germany?
Warum denn das?

Thanks for the move. I thought I had lost it. It does take a while to post images.

This was the winner in the Signature Category. This group does things a little differently. One starts by entering in the "Artistes Invités" of which about 30 are juried in. One keeps on applying annually to earn the Signature status, after which one can enter one painting a year without having to be juried. There were 80 Sigs and 30 Invited for a total of 110 different artists.

The one on the left won the public's Choice Award in Montreal.....

Finally, you never know where this wonderful medium will take you.
The painting above the quilt was done by Luigi Tiengo and the one to the left of it by Pierre Tougas.....both well established artists in Quebec. The Tougas is listed at $3,200 and the Tiengo at $2,750 Is it an honour or what to hang beside these guys?....The quilt by Brian Seed.....$800......;-)

More to come.

Brian,
Ingenious hanging system and a wonderful job putting all those paintings up so nicely.

The paintings are beautiful, and the quilt looks every bit as nice as its companions hanging with it. ;)

I LOVE the People's Choice painting....architectural subjects always catch my eye and that is especially well done with its gorgeous colors.

Hi Brian

A great exhibtion and a wonderful building to display in, you paintings are excllent!

I have experience of that hanging system, I always felt as if the paintings were going to slip off and crash to the floor!
