First post! Progression of the grisaille. There are still a few adjustments to be made, however.

Already looks very good. There are some sharp edges that you can take care of at this stage itself rather than wait for later, I think. Great job.

Will someone explain for me the difference between grisaille and what is called the "dead layer" :confused: Thanks so much.

There are probably a lot of definitions of both, but to me, other than the color, there is no difference. Both are monochrome and used as an underpainting. Grisaille comes from "gris", french for gray, so a grisaille is gray(-ish), a dead layer can be any color, theoretically.

Good attemp , Suggestions ~the top Lip is to thick and the bottom one not enough, the nose is also abit to short at the tip , ~if your trying for a faithful copy ...
