Goya

Picasso and Matisse did some wonderful dancers, but they are still under copyright. They can inspire us, though.

I had a beautiful you tube, but it wouldn't link. It's under Dance on Canvas-Classic Dance if you want to take a look.

Have some fun, and post your work here.

The waltz is playing.....

Hi, Robin. Yes, she is on a red chair....though the space between the ballet bar and the windows would make her and the chair paper dolls. I like the look, though.

Want to copy some of the Daumier/Goya dancers before the month is up.

Inspired by Goya's sketch of The Minstrels:

After Daumier

After Goya.

A couple of quick studies of the drawings by Goya and Daumier. Very enjoyable to copy.:D

I liked the characters captured in the originals. Just a few lines to suggest movement and personality.

Janet, I like your ballet dancers. Lovely atmosphere, delicate ...just like ballet dance.

I think we really like Goya and Daumier around here. Nice dancing feel on your sketches, June.

I think I mentioned before that Daumier was my fathers favorite artist. As a result I inherited six or seven art books on just him. Am going through them to see if I can find any more dancers. Great stuff

Here's a study of the Renoir couple dancing. Had so much fun painting this. Acrylics on canvas

Love your interpretation, Inky. Actually like it better than the original (I'm not a big Renoir fan) Also took a peek at your blog...nice

That's wonderful Robin, the tin soldier and the dancer, how lovely they are.

I really love to see these images of dancers, how can we not smile when we dance. It's great.

Ah! The tin soldier and the dancer. I found this tale very disturbing as a child, among others (Hans Christian Anderson comes to mind)

Really nice illustration, Robin. We must re-visit Kay Nielson and some of the other Once Upon a Timers
