My intention was to learn some lessons from this master artist rather than copy a complete likeness but I would appreciate feedback....and I 'will' handle constructive criticism too!!

Thanks Paula and Chan90. It was amazing to try to follow a Sargent's painting, his precision is extreme and economy of strokes is a challenge. I managed to get a very good quality large image from Artrenewal.org and that helped me look at the details.

Thank You Tahloola. I have learnt a lot from this exercise. The original is mindblowing but your compliment means a lot.

My favorite Sargent painting and you really did a beautiful job capturing his style. Love it.

Thank you Pmitkov and Pat. This is a pretty big one, measures 30 X 40 inches, pretty close to the original, as far as I can tell. So, to be able to do this at this scale and get so many compliments feels good.

Excellent work. A tip of the hat. I have painted some of Sisley's. You learn so much from executing that you miss from just observing,

Thanks Nefertiti23 and Brighton Sage for your compliments. I am working on another painting based on a work of a great artist of the current times, Gerhartz....boy, these artists are like magicians. It is both a pleasure and pain to attempt what they do!

I happened to look at her eyes again and again. I tried to move my eyes to look at her dress and other parts of painting, but it seemed like her eyes attracted me to look at them, again. Really very nice. love it.
