View Full Version : pelicans in clouds

Here is a little 5x7 from a pic I took. I used the regular nib scratchtool, scapel for the pelicans, and then the electric eraser. I found some speedball watercolor brushes (the water color is in the brush) at Aaron Brothers and used that those for the color. This one has a particular appeal to me. I guess I like those clouds and then sometimes mistake a pelican for a cloud. Thanks for looking. I might try a bigger pic of this and add some more pelicans. http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/26-Apr-2011/115982-pelicansclouds_600_x_454.jpg

Very nice, Angela. I used to watch the pelicans when I lived down south. Very unique birds.

Thanks you Terri that makes me feel good. Thanks Brett the pelicans have been real active down here lately. They are unique and a bit strange looking birds.

I've just done a pelican piece in pastels so this resonates with me. Very very cool Angela.

Lots of forward movement and I love the position caught of the upper birds wings. Cool!

Neat piece Angela! We don't see too many pelicans done in scratch and they are rather interesting.

I totally echo Rodman's thoughts on this. Well done!

Well done Angela, I can honestly say, I have never seen a pelican, guess they don't get this far north.

I like the texture in the pelican.

Thanks Lorna, Sandra, and Harry. Hmm Mark no pelicans in Alaska. Guess they don't like the cold.

It never ceases to amaze me how inventive you can be. This is cool!
Looks like they are flying their way through a stormy sky...way cool!

Thanks Diana a high compliment from you that makes me feel good. Thanks Sue yea they are working their way through a storm. The pic I took a big cloud was in the background made it so much better than just blue sky. Thanks again guys.

Great piece Angela. I too like Pelicans in flight. You've captured the action very well. I've been trying to get some flying duck and goose pics. It's fun but not easy to freeze the wings. You do really nice birds.
