View Full Version : Ginger - WIP

All right, this is my second piece of scratch art. Her name is Ginger and she is another of my friend's dogs. Ginger is a beautiful, friendly little dog. This fur pattern is a bit more complex than the last one and I have already screwed up the eye, but I'll get there. The chair she is laying on is made of leather, so another texture to learn.
I'll post a close-up with the next update.
5" x 7"
Exacto knife only.

You are off to a very good start Nancy. To me, scratch art is mostly about textures and making them look recognizable.

I can't tell where you screwed up the eye? It looks really good and you do fur very very well!!

Nancy: Excellent Start. The eye catches attention.

Scratchboard = nothing is " screwed up" until one cuts thru the clay.

This will be awesome when complete if that little section is any indication.

Here's an update. I've completely blacked out the eye except for the highlight but have not scratched it out again as of yet. That's my next move.
I'm actually wondering if this composition will work as a scratch art piece in black and white. It's really the color that brings life and depth to it and I've already shown myself that I really stink when trying to add color to scratchbord. So, I don't know what's going to happen to this piece.

Here's Ginger's eye re-scratched and her nose almost half done. Tried to add some volume to her fur, but still need to work on that. Actually I need to stop until I get the background finished. Knowing the need for all of you to see detail, I have provided two close-ups.
Thanks you for looking!
